Aggressive, threatening collection tactics — refused to provide proof

I received multiple SMS and WhatsApp messages from Nicol, Davis & Associates claiming they were collecting an outstanding Academy of York debt and demanding immediate payment (messages began 31 Oct 2025). They provided the bank account ABSA 4074710889 and pressured me to pay by specific deadlines, threatened “Magistrate Court” action with a **** case number, and mentioned “Section 77.”

I requested in writing that they email: (1) their CFDC registration certificate, (2) a Letter of Authority on Academy of York letterhead, and (3) a full itemised statement (capital, interest, fees & VAT). They refused to provide these and continued to demand I call “Rachel” instead of sending documents. They also called my family. I reported the matter to the CFDC and contacted Academy of York for verification.

If you are contacted by this company: do not pay until the original creditor confirms in writing and the collector provides CFDC proof.
