This is a follow-up to my previous review. I felt compelled to add more in order to fully convey the gravity of my experience with this institution of higher learning after almost three years of education. I received my Red Seal certification about a year ago and was recently invited to an award ceremony, despite being unemployed for all this time since qualifying. You can't make this up. During my unemployment, I discovered that there are people working on 11kV lines without a single certificate in the area where I live. Imagine what that must feel like.
I'm writing this to highlight the outrageous situation in South Africa, where first-time pass electrical students can be unemployed, while the unqualified are working with 11kV power lines for R5,500 a month. We live in a country where you're unable to get a job as an unqualified graphic designer, but you can work on high-voltage lines and equipment without any certification. This should serve as a warning to anyone considering becoming an electrician in South Africa. It’s not worth the time or effort to spend your money at Northlink to become a qualified artisan. My life is a testament to this harsh reality. Qualified first-time pass students sit at home while the uncertified are employed. This is the reality of the electrical trade industry in South Africa. If you want to know why buildings collapse here, you don't need to look very far. You have been warned.
P.S. I still haven't received my Red Seal certificate, even after 10 months have passed.
