This is a follow-up to my previous review. I felt compelled to add more in order to fully convey the gravity of my experience with this institution of higher learning after almost three years of education. I received my Red Seal certification about a year ago and was recently invited to an award ceremony, despite being unemployed for all this time since qualifying. You can't make this up. During my unemployment, I discovered that there are people working on 11kV lines without a single certificate in the area where I live. Imagine what that must feel like. I'm writing this to highlight the outrageous situation in South Africa, where first-time pass electrical students can be unemployed, while the unqualified are working with 11kV power lines for R5,500 a month. We live in a country where you're unable to get a job as an unqualified graphic designer, but you can work on high-voltage lines and equipment without any certification. This should serve as a warning to anyone considering becoming an electrician in South Africa. It’s not worth the time or effort to spend your money at Northlink to become a qualified artisan. My life is a testament to this harsh reality. Qualified first-time pass students sit at home while the uncertified are employed. This is the reality of the electrical trade industry in South Africa. If you want to know why buildings collapse here, you don't need to look very far. You have been warned. P.S. I still haven't received my Red Seal certificate, even after 10 months have passed.
HEED MY WARNING, https://www.news24.com/news24/southafrica/news/siu-recovers-r33m-from-cape-towns-northlink-college-after-money-was-used-improperly-20221115 After 2 years spent here full-time and more than 80000 rand in college fees alone, this is my review of Northlink Belhar campus, this after dealing with Laverne Liebenberg/Geswind, Pat Lawrence and the rest of his management. Like some reviewer said here, if you value your time and your life do not ever spend a single cent at this institution or you might end up like me. I completed the whole ordeal just to write about my -5 star experience I had to endure with these ****s, *******, responsibility dodgers an blame shifters, this coming from an institution that trains people to work on high voltage. They use religion as a means to cover up their dishonesty and thievery there. My list of grievances are as follows. 1. Long unreasonable waiting period and certificate correction demands, waited 3 years for a certificate, this is the ordeal that initiated my unfortunate experience I encountered with this lot, after 2 miss-prints that was their fault and 3 years later, I was asked to pay for the corrections on the certificates, that happened with 2 of my certificates on separate occasions, both times I was asked for money to pay for their mistakes, imagine that... this is where my trouble started with admin staff at the time Laverne Geswind/Liebenberg. 2. Victimization, I was then targeted by her colleagues who set out to make my life a living hell after I complained about the service I encountered to the academic head Raymond Lensing and the admin Manager. Our group and myself was targeted by Mr Kleinsmith for the simple reason according his own words; "He didn't like our group", then went ahead to provide us with cheap materials to train on, completely different to what the others received before us. 3. Empty promises, paying a huge amount of money for outdated, old and wrong information, the promise of free courses for those who paid for themselves never materialized. (As promised by Mr Snyders). 4. Getting harassed by their lawyers for money I paid into their accounts in full, R8500 rand. 5. Getting sent endless lawyers letters for a disputed amount that they made up out of thin air, after endless up and down, a long run around that they gave me on purpose it seems, nobody on the entire campus could tell me what they billed me for, they had to correct the amount and reimburse me, only apologized even after I took them to the lawyers. (Promised me a letter of apology that never materialized.) 6. Getting evicted without a report or any official documentation for losing my temper at the end of the day, after the ********** service I received all thanks to gossiper staff. Then have senior management cover up for their staff's incompetence (Maybe you will know why when you read the article attached to this review) 7. No formal apology letter as I was promised, I had to go see a lawyer to enter the premises after they had no valid reason to evict me, then gave me the run around afterwards, just to write my trade test that was delayed for more than a year due to the fact that they put their friends into earlier trade test dates first, all the people that came after me got to write their trade tests waaaaaay before me thanks to them delaying my documents on purpose. 8. Misinformation galore, I got completely wrong and outdated info from tertiary institution lecturers that work with high voltages. 9. Being blacklisting at the companies they are connected to, unable to find work as a qualified electrician. All the time I wasted here I feel like I have been ******, ****** and violated, they took my money and precious time an think there will be no consequences. I would never advise anyone to spend their money here, especially if you are black or poor. No apology will ever suffice for the amount of stress they caused to myself and my family, if you are a person of color skip this institution, you have been warned.
