Last year on the 14th April 2021 I purchased an NP200 from Nissan NP200 from NTT Bloemfontein my request was to get an affordable car as I am in debt and trying to get out of it. I explained to the sales person Nelson Dhlamini that I needed a car because I had anxiety and just wanted a maximum of R3500 instalment, I explained that I was in debt and was paying Capitec R7500 monthly to cover the debt quicker, I was left with R60 000 but because of the anxiety I opted to get an affordable car. After talking with Nelson and his Supervisor the initial instalment suggestion was R6500 of which I blatantly disagreed from and then later on they said that they would be able to do R5000, they said that the deal was good because they will be paying the R60 000 personal loan (which is a lie because it was consolidated in the car). That is how the deal was done. The following day Nelson brought the car from Bloemfontein to Bethlehem, I was under anxiety medication and had overslept and left my phone at my friend’s place and after someone had awoken me I was able to get my phone and communicate with Nelson. He was anxious that I had dropped him and thought that I was not going to pitch to get the car, when we met there remained a multitude of outstanding undertakings to be done. This includes amongst others getting a statement at the bank, signing etc. so we ended up not being able to go to the bank as the banks closes early on a Saterday. He then instructed me to go to the bank on Monday to sign the papers, I agreed and did so. I then signed some documents in the car so that he would hand me the car. 3. The following was explained to me while I was initialling and signing a stack of papers: • NTT will pay one month and I would pay the 71 months, • That the car came with no radio and he insisted that the radio be put in and that’s how I had the car, • That the car did not have a service plan and that I would have to do the service myself, • He said that I would have to do the registration but NTT will pay me for that. I called him after a friend of mine I had referred to him said that his car had a balloon payment and it hit me that I was never made aware of that I called Nelson and asked him if my car had a balloon payment t and he said yes it did and I was shocked, because that would have been a deal breaker. 4. On the 17 March 2022 after defaulting on two payments on the car I was admitted at Mondia Wellness Centre, due to feeling extremely overwhelmed. 5. In the financial wellness class I told the social worker about my financial state, upon investigation the social worker discovered that I was overwhelmed by debt. The social worker, who had read the contract NTT made me sign found that I had a Debt of R420 000 from ABSA because of the deal that was not correctly disclosed to me. When I saw the contract I was in awe at the level of treacherous in the contract the following was flawed: • first of all my expenses there are absolutely not true a true reflection, • the fact that the car had a balloon payment to be paid was not told to me • the amount of the car was not disclosed to me • the extras and how much they would cost were not disclosed to me • I was deceived when they said that they would pay off the 60 000 only to have it consolidated in the car. • I paid for the licensing and registration • I never asked for the Tint • I was not told of the a service and delivery fee • I was not told of Fuelling charges • Other on the description of extras is R23699.99 6. I believe that the car was sold to me with no transparency. It gives me great grief that after I told Nelson my financial strain and quest for a reliable affordable car, he would go out of his way to put me deeper into debt for his own profit. I fell like he made profit out of my desperation and did not have my best interest. It has caused my mental health to deteriorate and has affected my credit score tremendously. I owe ABSA R420 000 for an NP200! that is scheming to the highest order. 7. I am also unable to afford insurance for the car because I can not afford the car and insurance , I’ve grown to resent NTT and the car because NTT sold me a lie the car is uncomfortable but I’m paying it as though it’s a comfortable premium branded car, I honestly feel ripped off. 8. This is a humble request to come up with a fair equitable solution for this mess created by your company as it has affected my credit record and my mental health I sent this very letter to Patrick Whelpton who said that I signed up for for the deal and provided me with the documents which I do not dispute that I signed. He then said the matter would be better solved if I came to their offices in Bloemfontein. I can’t even afford bread because their company punched me into financial disorder but he expect me to drive to him to explain to me that I’ve signed papers… please assist me hellopeter. I have sent the letter to the ombudsman and they referred me to NCR but I have not heard any correspondence please help Hellopeter and anyone in the car dealership world I’m drowning
