Dear friends from the fishing/angling community. I have to warn you against buying any bait boat from Optus Bait Boats. I bought one of these bait boats 18 months ago and had many problems since the first day I took it to the waters having high hopes of success. I am not going to continue explaining all the problems with this purchase which I absolutely regret. It has cost me probably close to R10 000 in additional to the initial purchase price, just to see if I could get it to give me some reasonable fishing experience. Recently the prop shaft became very sticky and noisy, secondly the spinner function for delivering of fish bait in the water stopped functioning, if that was not enough the rudder steering stopped functioning meaning I cannot dare to take the bait boat to any waters because I won't be able to steer the boat back to me, and might see my boat just continuing going straight away from me. I then made contact with two bait boat repair services who informed me as follows; The received many calls from anglers who bought the same the very same bait boat from Optus Bait boats having the very same problems I have been experiencing. The second repair service I consulted furthermore said the cause of the problems are: the Optus bait boat has a substandard drive shaft mechanism which is mounted on rubber that wears out, having no form of lubrication; the steering mechanism is of poor design that have the tendency of becoming sticky soon, causing the electric circuit to overstrain and burn out within a short period of time. The repair services further responder that they were not prepared to try and repair my Optus Bait boat, since no repairs thereto would provide me with a reliable bait boat. The consequences now is: I have to s**** the Optus Bait boat that already cost me a substantial amount of money, and buy a new little boat from another supplier.
I cannot take the risk of taking my non-operational Optus Bait boat back to the supplier Nos Minnaar, because he already cheated me badly when I took the boat back to him at already four instances in the past. In a previous instance when I asked to replace the previous electric motor with a improved brushless motor, he installed a old motor into my boat, which burnt out at the first instance that I went for fishing. I was then informed by other people that were also cheated by Nos Minnaar, that when you would dare taking you bait boat back to him for repairs, he would remove good parts from your boat and install them into newly ordered boats, and replace your parts with old parts.
I also was told that several clients that Nos Minnaar tricked like he tricked me, lodged civil cases against him. I currently don't know if any of the civil claims against him were successful.
In essence knowing what legal principles apply to defeat of character, I have to warn you people out there, DO NOT buy any bait boat from Optus Bait Boats, Nos Minnaar, you will certainly regret it.
What I even find more disgraceful about this man Nos Minnaar, when meeting him he is quite quick in bringing you to an understanding what good and active Christian he is, but his business dealings selling the bait boats to misinformed and innocent buyers are in my opinion equivalent to coming from a totally dishonest person. I am sure if you would do some enquiries and talk to some of his previous clients of Nos Minnaar before placing you order with him, you will hear that my last remark reflects a commonly known fact about this individual.
