Had the most disappointing experience and stay at the Hotel. In attempt to avoid a repeat for other guests I sent a comprehensive record of our experience with no response from Management.

In this place you pay alot of money for a mediocre service where you can't even watch what you want on tv....😏

George Municipality MENU EXTENDED WATER OUTAGE – Herold’s Bay Line Home / Notices Unfortunately this line has failed again at the same position, the fourth pipe break. Herold’s Bay Reservoir is empty. Parts of Herold’s Bay will experience a water outage within the next hour or two. Oubaai and Breakwater only have a few hours of water supply left. The public in these areas are urged to use water sparingly. Repairs will continue. June 30, 2024 by Chantel Edwards in Notice Archive This is the message from the municipality. We drove through today on the 1st of July for 5 hours from Cape Town and we booked two weeks ago. The hotel never let us know there was water problems, and now we staying at the hotel not being able to wash or flush the toilet. And we had no warning. When i took up with the night manager she got upset and said it isn't there problem and when i told her why didn't they warn us before hand so we could make arrangements she got upset and said she only came on late and didn't know. But when i told her about the message she said she will get all the facts and get back to me but never did. I then also brought to attention that a staff member came into our room while we sleeping. She said she will find out but with no apology. If we knew about the water problem we wouldn't have taken the risk to drive for 5 hours not being able to wash or have a toilet that we used and not being able to flush. What an terrible experience and still to be treated like we did something wrong and all the hotel was willing to do is give two bottles of water, a liter of water. And told we didn't know you were staying here that's why we didn't tell you about the water issue.

I stayed at Oubaai hotel from the 29th of December 2023 to the 3rd of Jan 2024 I lost a pair of my Dolce and Gabana flats and was told that the shoes were not found in the room when I called. I was going to let it slide but I feel like I have been ****** off my expensive pair of shoes. Nothing else was missing except for that 1 pair. I am just aggrieved with the whole situation

Yesterday morning (14 May), I was invited to a breakfast at this esteemed establishment the Oubaai Hotel and Spa. On entering the breakfast room, the first thing that I noticed were the filthy windows. And I know the place is next to the sea and this fact is a problem but I too live next to the sea so I know what it takes to keep windows clean. Then it was time to start eating, with a serving of either fruit, or cereal, or the traditional bacon and egg type breakfast. We were informed by guests there before us, not to drink the coffee from the machine but rather that the kitchen make us fresh coffee. Well that was a 15 minute saga to get our coffee and when we did, it was without either warm or cold milk. When it came to the breakfast itself they ran out of scrambled eggs and the hot food stuffs were anything but hot / warm. The "container" which had scrambled egg in it was empty and was that way for the duration of our breakfast. As we left, so a fresh batch arrived. No, we were not the last to arrive we were there pretty early with golfers streaming in ready for the days fun. The table at which we sat, had a damaged top surface with the chipboard exposed. We were told later that there were issues with the cooking equipment in the kitchen. While that may well be true - problem solve the problem - the dilemma isn't any concern of paying guests. The kitchen lacks hands on management. But wait that’s not all. The family I was with, who were guests at the hotel not with one room but three huge suites, had booked a private function room at the clubhouse for 14 people for a 50th birthday. When we got there, and that after confirming in the afternoon that all was prepared for our arrival, we witnessed that our function room had been occupied by another group of people. It’s a guess-did they walk in and just take over the function room or were they escorted to the function room without checking or was there a double booking? What goes through me is that a traditional Afrikaans surname cannot be confused with an African name / surname - the point I’m making is the people that took over our function room would definitely not have an Afrikaans surname so that should have set off an alarm bell something isn’t right with the welcoming receptionist. I’ll cut the story short - from this point onwards at the last moment we hastily had to find another venue in George to accommodate 14 people for the celebration. I believe the Oubaai owners ought to know their business (based on our experience) isn’t in good shape and neither is it in good hands.

Today, 6/06/2021, I was utterly disgusted by the service received at the Freesia spa situated on the premises of Oubaai hotel golf and spa. Yesterday, the 05/06/2021 upon check in the lovely lady at the front desk of the Oubaai hotel recommended that we check out the spa on the premises which we did. There was a couples promotion running for R600 which entitled us both to a 30 minute aromatic body steam and a 30 min massage. As there was no slot available for yesterday (5/6/2021) we decided to book one for today at 13:00. Upon check out at the hotel which happened at about 10:00 we waited the 3 hours out envisioning to have a nice relaxing and de-stressing massage at the spa at 13:00. Upon arrival for our appointment the lady advised that there was a problem with some of the steamers and that we can proceed to do the massage first whilst the matter was being resolved Once our massage was over I proceeded to ask about the balance of the treatment and was told that the steamers were out of order in the entire facility and there was nothing that they could do. When I asked about how this would impact the cost that I was liable to pay the lady proceeded to tell me that I still needed to pay the full amount for half the treatment. I immediately expressed my dissatisfaction with this as how could I pay for a full treatment yet only received half. The lady dealing with me went on to state that I’m actually getting the aromatic body steam for free and that that was usually an extra that one needed to pay for. I advise the lady that although that was under normal circumstances, this was a promotion that was running offering two treatments for the amount of R600 and that was what I expected to get After numerous occasions stating that I was not willing to pay for both treatments as I only received one, the lady dealing with me asked if I wanted to speak to the manager which I agreed to. After waiting for approximately five minutes the same lady popped her head out and said the manager wasn’t there yet and “they” said that they could offer me a 15% discount which I was still not happy with as in my mind as a customer half a treatment should equate to half the price. Due to me needed to get back to Cape Town for an appointment I made the payment and on my drive back discovered that the lady gave me a R15 off not a 15% as agreed I feel that this is daylight robbery and one should get what one pays for which certainly was not what I paid for in this instance Regards Dominique

Not clean. Paid for a breakfast, and when I checked in I was told that they are not doing the buffet breakfast (that I had been looking forward to), but that they would bring me muesli and oats to the room in the morning. I had to choose a time, I chose 7:30. By 7:50 I had to leave the room to make it for my booked round of golf. So no breakfast for me. Building is dated and staff untrained. Very dirty and unmaintained. A damn shame.
