Shoddy Workmanship

We hired Philip Jonck and his daughter Carmen from Painters Cape in May this year for maintenance to our home. They were asked to paint the outside of the house including the front and back doors, the roof, the inside doors and door frames, to seal part of the roof above our bedroom and rebuild and tile a step on the front stoep.

They arrived early and on time with a large group for the painting and this was completed on the outside in a short amount of time. The painting looked good except for the roof that in some places has the old colour showing slightly but they did assure me that they painted the roof with two coats of paint. We also wonder about the two layers of paint on the walls as the old colour shows through (a different shade of white).

The section of the roof that we asked and paid for to be sealed are still leaking and to get my disabled husband on the roof is a dangerous and time consuming process. We did find several and at least one hole as big as a R5 piece that was not fixed as requested.

The front and back doors’ paint are pealing. Half of the doors inside the house cannot be closed because the surface was not prepared correctly and the paint layers are to thick.

The step on the front stoep is not level and will need to be broken up and redone. They also left all the building rubble on the pavement as well as extra bags of cement in our parking area that has since hardened.

I have tried contacting Philip but he does not answer my calls or e-mails.
