We had used Perfect Slate in 2015 and were very happy with their work. Unfortunately something has changed as they are no longer the same professional outfit. In March 2017 we again employed the services of Perfect Slate to do repairs to our roof and ceilings (water damage due to loose roof tiles). The quote was "padded" with unneccesary items which I only became aware of when the actual team arrived to do the work (I work from home). They quoted for scaffolding at R2500 but used a long ladder, quoted for 50 new tiles but in fact only replaced 5. There was never any supervisor to oversee the project - I ended up having to supervise the work myself - and on the last day I had to instruct the team to go back onto the roof to move several loose tiles that I could see from looking up at the roof. When I expressed concern that they may not have fixed all the loose tiles, they said to wait for the rain and see whether there were still any leaks! The worst part of all was that the paint they used had the most toxic smell I have ever experienced and continued to gas off horrible strong plastic smelling fumes for another month. There is still a faint smell - not the usual fresh paint smell- , so not sure that it will ever go away completely, After asking them numerous times to come back with a paint expert to seal the paint with something, they still have not done so. Instead they just keep sending emails asking for the last outstanding payment. I would strongly advise anyone dealing with Perfect Slate to carefully check your invoice to make sure the actual work was carried out, - I would also insist on seeing and smelling the paint that they plan on using,
