Picup technologies is ********ly deducting monies, more recently a R400 deduction dated 3 December '25 - my contract does not state anything about deductions
Dear Pickup Technologies Management,
Zone planner at Picup in Cape Town is seemingly *********** and nobody can assist as it seems Zone Planner knows not what he is doing.
I have a contract termed "carrier agreement" and am disputing the deductions made from my earnings for “not booking slots.”
After reviewing my signed contract with Pickup Technologies, I confirm there is no clause authorising any penalties, charges, or deductions related to slot bookings. I have also not provided written consent for such deductions at any time.
In the absence of a contractual clause or written consent, these deductions are ******** and in breach of South African contract and labour principles, including Section 34 of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, which prohibits any unauthorised deductions, even for contractors performing controlled work. I've addressed this matter on the live chat, since nobody KNOWS HOW TO ASSIST ME. Please ensure the immediate cessation of all deductions related to slot bookings.
A written explanation identifying the exact contractual or legal basis for these deductions.
A full refund of all amounts deducted without authorisation.
A complete written breakdown of deductions made to date.
If this matter is not resolved within 7 days, I will proceed with formal action.

06 Dec 2025, 18:20Before I even started doing deliveries my app indicated a negative R50- which was taken along with additional deductions so when I received my weekly payment,it amounted to just a little over R200 for the week.
For reference purposes, R200 was spent on fuel for one day....
I tried to resolve this, to no avail. Every week money is deducted from my account, and of the whatsapp numbers I have the Zone Planner NEO, didn't reply or answermy calls and totally ignored my query.
It has further come to my attention that I am not the only individual that's noticed that PICUP Technologies who uses Pick n Pay ASAP drivers , repeatedly acts in ways contrary to South African labour standards and those not supported by the terms in the contract signed.
In light of this, majority of the staff compliment delivering on bikes are foreign nationals afraid to do anything, which is the reason PICUP has never been held accountable for its ongoing ******** practices.
It is a shame that Pick n Pay has partnered with PICUP Technologies as it certainly will, if not soon, in the future impact Pick n Pay negatively .
A law unto itself, PiCUP unilaterally changes terms and conditions ********LY to solely benefit itself, without consideration or the financial impact on a driver, case-in-point, MYSELF.
I have made numerous attempts to contact Pickup Technologies regarding these deductions and policy changes.
Despite my attempts, the company has been consistently unreachable. I keep getting told by the zone planner to use the apps LIVECHAT, which I've done numerous times and all I've received were automated emails. WOW!
I've wondered why the company has no contact number on its website or Facebook page....
No valid communication or support channels have been provided to allow the dispute of these deductions or even clarify operational issues.
This conduct prevents fair resolution and demonstrates negligence and bad faith.
This is the second time that such a hefty amount is deducted. How am I supposed to survive if I'm paying PICUP to do deliveries.
I use petrol, data and airtime and there's no consideration as to how I'm supposed to sustain myself or anything else. I've worked the whole of Friday, 5 December 2025, only for the R400 deductions.
Every effort I have made to seek clarity on these deductions has been ignored. Pickup Technologies has either failed to respond entirely or has treated my enquiries in a nonchalant, dismissive manner, showing no intention of addressing the issue.
In conclusion, I reserve my right to pursue this matter through legal mechanisms. Be It the Small Claims Court, relevant regulatory bodies, or any appropriate tribunal.
