Brides, please be careful with competitions with Pink Book Weddings:
I won a prize in June with Pink Book Weddings in collaboration with Thalia and John Film and Music for a jukebox for my wedding which is in February next year. When entering the competition, it is required to input your wedding date. After contacting Thalia and John Film and Music immediately after the announcement, everything was sorted and we booked the jukebox.
Over the past few weeks, Thalia and John Film and Music and have posting all over their social media that they are immigrating to Georgia next year. I wasn't bothered as it was scheduled to happen a while after my wedding. Suddenly the date moved up, and I calculated it was before our wedding. I wasn't notified of this, but only found out through their Instagram. After emailing them, they confirmed that they were leaving before our wedding and cannot provide us with the jukebox anymore. We planned a lot of our entertainment around this feature, and all our guests were looking forward to it, and we were suddenly dropped.
I emailed Pink Book to express my concerns and they were helpful and made me believe that this could easily be remedied. They spoke with Thalia and John Film and Music and suggested they supply us with a DJ instead, but we already have booked a DJ. I suggested they source a jukebox from another company, and if all else fails, then give us the cash equivalent of the prize so we can try fix this mess ourselves. They referred us to their terms and conditions which refuses the cash option.
After explaining that this is an extraordinary circumstance, and their T&Cs do not cover an event of non-performance, Pink Book emailed back, with a sudden additional clause to their T&Cs saying that "prizes are subject to availability to the wedding date and a new winner will be drawn if the prize giver is unavailable." They added in a whole new clause just to service their agenda which is extremely unethical, despite how the prize giver was available and aware of our date for months already and decided to drop us.
It is really disappointing and disheartening that companies treat their clients (who give them business) with such disregard, and pull unethical stunts to service their agenda. Please be careful with competitions, and educate yourselves in contracts.
