Plumber/ tile scam in southern suburbs, Cape Town

I write this review in pure disgust. There is a so- called company trading as powerfix civils who reports they do all kinds of tiling and plumbing including pools. The two individuals who I have dealt with are Ismail Sait (from Bonteheuwel, Athlone) and Chantel Flandorp (https://www.facebook.com/chantel.flandorp and https://www.facebook.com/chantel.flandorp1) They claim their project manager is Oscar Flandorp who they report to.

I hired them from an unverified source and paid a deposit of R10 000 for stripping of a bathroom and total renovations. The stripping alone took over a week and well into the end of the second week it was evident Ismail Sait and company had no idea what they were doing. Their work was of poor quality and standard. The tiles (expensive porcelain tiles) were chipped and cracked and placed crookedly. There is more than R5 000 worth of damaged property owing. There were “piping problems” according to them that was delaying the completion of the project. On request to check for any leaks, the entire bathroom flooded from numerous leaks.

I subsequently fired them and got another company to assist me. On re-stripping the bathroom the following was noted:

No waterproofing done Shower floor was uneven and had no fall Old broken tubing placed as pipes (picture attached) All tiles were cracked or chipped - used a grinder to cut Shower glass was cracked New toilet was cracked

I had to restrip, re-buy tiles and replace sanitary ware. They have vandalised and damaged my property and I will ensure I get my money back including additional compensation for what I had to replace.

Please be aware of these people and this so called company. They are not qualified and unable to complete any job.
