Two years ago, I ordered glasses from Spec-Savers Tygervalley Mall, but the prescription was wrong. The issue was corrected by redoing the order, and I was assured the first order would be cancelled in Spec saver's system and it will go to PPN who will then resend it back to my scheme to be added back to my savings. This required me to resubmit a shortfall claim gain to my medical aid via PPN, which I did I resigned all the required paperwork and submitted accordingly.
Fast forward to this year: when I ordered new glasses, it took more than a month just for the shortfall to be allocated from my medical aid via this PPN. I was close to giving up. Earlier this week, I finally received a call to collect my glasses (with the understanding that they cannot be released unless the shortfall is settled). Since I collected my glasses on 11/09/2025, I assumed everything had been processed and paid.
However, just before leaving the store, I was suddenly told I owed R345 and was advised to contact Finance Spec Savers. With the store’s assistance, I did so, only to later be informed that the actual amount outstanding was R1900. This is beyond disappointing. Now I am being asked to fill out the same form I already submitted three times in 2023. Clearly, the internal control systems are failing because how could I have received my glasses in 2023 if the shortfall had not been processed in the first place? and now if I fill in the form where will that money go? Because it will clearly be a second payment for one item which already expired as I am writing here.
I am extremely dissatisfied and will be changing my medical aid scheme, as I refuse to continue dealing with *********** service provider (PPN).
