I was desperate to find a Dunlopillo pillow as mine is old, and I can sleep on nothing else due to health problems. On the 16th of Dec I searched the internet and Pricecheck.co.za took me to an offer at Merkado. As I trusted Pricecheck, I went right to the Merkado site from the link. I placed the order for the pillow and paid the R2198 with an immediate transfer from my bank acc. They said on their site that deliveries take between 5 and 7 working days. On the 28th of Dec I received the 1st communication from them, saying that my order "has now been marked paid". I could not believe it! That was when I (which I should have done right before I even considered Merkado) came and checked on HelloPeter. Their reviews were terrible, with a lot of people complaining about the same thing, namely never receiving their order and then (after months and a big fight) eventually being offered a refund. I was still hopeful and gave Merkado the benefit of the doubt. But when by the 18th of January they told me that my order "had not arrived yet from the warehouse" in the UK, I was very quickly offered a refund. They told me "you can order from somewhere else". But then the tricky bit was that they could not tell me how soon this refund would be done. As I had read the horror stories of other customers, I insisted on an immediate refund. The excuses came hard and ongoing, and I landed up threatening them with police investigation. The money was returned to my bank account the next morning. PLEASE can we stop these people at Merkado from operating?! And can Pricecheck please stop offering links to their deals? So I waited in agony for more than a month for my pillow, and still didn't get it! While these fraudsters were sitting on my (and how many others') money, getting interest on their bank account balance!!
<p>Dealing with this company for the past almost 3 years has given me grey hair, higher blood pressure and nightmares. We pay over R500 pm for "after care" . But there is no care. Not at all. Emails go unanswered, questions of a serious nature gets answered by the receptionist and you just never get anywhere. Your worries become nightmares as you get harassed by banks and credit providers on a daily basis. And this after the CEO personally said "I will help you, dont worry" when he wanted our business. Well, as soon as he had our business and thousands of rands, the communication ended right there. The only time he sends you an email, is to give you an ear full about you (the client) complaining about him or his incompetent staff!</p>
