I have a 24month Vodacom contract that includes an Ipad with 2GB data every month. When I started this contract I put a Cap on the data usage due to a very expensive 1st month. I asked them to only allow a R50 usage of date once the free 2GB data was used. It worked for the rest of the months up until 2 months back. My bill for October was R120 more than what was expected and when I called I was told that the cap is not guatanteed and if I am online it will allow you to stay online until you close the session. I did not believe that explanation as I had used the IPAD for about 2 days to surf the net and then wasnt allowed access as my 2GB data + R50.00 was used up. In November my bill was R600.00 more than it was supposed to be and when I called Vodacom I was given the same reason. I know they are talking nonsense as I was only allowed internet access for half a day and when I tried connecting after that I kept getting the error response you get when your data has run out. Firstly I find it very hard to believe that I used 2GB data plus R600.00 more in the short space of time that I was able to connect to the net. Secondly on my side the CAP that I had place seemed to work as I wasnt able to connect to the net after my allocated data was used but on Vodacoms side I apparently still was able to use data to the value of R600.00. How is this possible? Vodacom cannot get away with charging people for excessive data usage to make a profit on their side. We put in measures to protect ourselves like the CAP that I had but they seem to totally disregard this with the feeble excuse that it is not guaranteed. I have lodged a complaint with them and I am awaiting a reponse from the technical team but know that they will come with some more excuses or unbelievalble explanations to back their unlawful incorrect charges. They need to understand that we as consumers have rights and I intend on using all my rights to get my money back. I will not back down since in reality I definatley did not use over my allocated data. VODACOM has left me out of pocket this month and it is sad that they do this to many other unsuspecting customers as well. I am so livid with VODACOM right now.
