A reservation for a 70th birthday party was made online on the restaurant`s webpage, and an acknowledgement was received of the booking. However, on arrival the manageress knew nothing of the reservation, with the normal excuse of `I`m sorry`! We have supported this place since it started, but NEVER again will I spent a cent there.
I was overcharged at the till for boxes of wine that were "on special". Luckily I passed maths at school with more than 30%.
As a guesthouse owner we normally spend about R8000 per month at this shop in Summerstrand, PE. On the 2nd of April 2025 the salad bar was empty at 1120. On enquiry, the response was "they are still busy"!! It leaves us no choice to buy from now on at the Checkers store in the Boardwalk Mall in Gqeberha. It is sad to see how the service at this Spar has deteriorated over the last few months, with unhelpful, noisy and unfriendly staff.
I wanted to buy 160l of roof paint for the weekend on my way home on a Friday afternoon at 1613. But this business was closed!!!! Fellow outside said that they close at 4pm on a Friday. What??? Why not close early on a Monday? Anyhow, bought at business down the road at great prices and service.
Increased fees from R660 to R910 for 2025. That is an increase of 38% !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Huh? They will have 2 fewer members in 2025!
I am a regular at this hotel for the last 44 years. Since the Boardwalk Mall has opened, access to the safe parking of the hotel has been a major problem, with Uber and other taxi`s using the entrance to the parking area as a taxi rank. The management of the hotel, and the poor parking attendant/security guard, do not seem to consider this an issue for their customers. And one can see the effect in the fewer customers during the last 2 years.
The staff is this shop is untrained and clueless about customer satisfaction. The workers, at the till and packers, are extremely noisy and shout at each other three tills away, or even two isles away. This makes for a terrible shopping experience, and after 21 years I am doing my shopping elsewhere. I just cannot stand it anymore!!
They ran a special offer until July on Three Peaks wine, with a "free" 1.5 liter bottle for each case of six bought. However, they did not have the 1.5 l wine in stock. So the special is not a special!! The manager was flabbergasted and unable to make an alternative plan, or come up with a plausible explanation.
Parking at this gym is a nightmare, with cars parked all over the place *******ly. On yellow lines, red lines, able-bodied members in disabled bays, etc. This mayhem restricts access to proper parking bays. Complaints have received no response from the management.
This shop has by far the noisiest workers of all the shops in Port Elizabeth. It is incomprehensible that packers can shout at others 2 isles away, and that tellers can have a conversation with another one 3 tills away. It makes for a most unpleasant shopping experience.
