I bought an Opel with 2000kms on the clock from Key Pinetown. The front brakes started getting pretty bad and the brake shudder became unbearable after only a few months. I booked the car in to get them to look at the brakes and was informed that the front discs and pads required replacing and despite having only 5967kms on the clock, due to the fact that the car was older than 6 months (it was 8months old), I would have to pay the R8,500 bill to have the brakes replaced. When I complained that the car was practically brand new the ONLY response I got was "the warranty doesn't cover brakes if the car has more than 10,000kms or is older than 6 months SORRY FOR YOU!" I tried to escalate to someone and was told to escalate to the Sales Director. He has done absolutely nothing. They couldn't care LESS. Do NOT buy from Key Pinetown! In fact I would not recommend buying from the Stellantis group of vehicles at all. They do not care about customer relations whatsoever.

As far as I can tell, Renault SA let a 162kw performance hatch out of the factory with sub specification front brake discs. The franchise that sold me the vehicle was Renault Pietermaritzburg and they sold it as a demo model but with just under 20,000kms on the clock. I was told at the time of purchase that the front brake pads had been replaced. Which means that the service staff at Renault Pietermaritzburg were either incompetent and installed the mis-matched correct pads on the incorrect discs, or were simply negligent or indifferent.

When I had the front pads replaced some time later at Renault Pinetown I was informed about the incorrectly spec'd front brake discs and I was forced to order and pay for the correct sized discs before they would install the new pads... understandable of course.

When I confronted Renault Pietermaritzburg about this issue, they denied any knowledge of the incorrect disc size (despite having replaced the front pads themselves) and referred the issue to Renault SA who apparently offered to refund me for the cost and I was informed that this would be organised through Renault Pinetown where I had the new discs installed. 6 weeks later... Renault Pinetown has refused to honour the refund, I have simply been given the run around over and over again... it is now clear they have no intention of honouring this at all.

Attrocious to sell to a member of the public a performance hatch with sub spec'd brakes, gross negligence in servicing a vehicle and then selling it either without knowing about or worse without caring about the sub spec'd brake discs and then shocking customer service to offer a refund in compensation without any intention of honouring the offer!!

The sad truth is after never having bought Renault, I was a little nervous about the franchise as I had been warned about customer service issues, but I thought I would give the brand a chance and this is my first experience... Never Again... I will never return to Renault and warn anyone considering buying a Renault!
