I called Appliance Repairs Johannesburg ( ********** ) for the price of replacing the main drum bearings on a LG 6kg direct drive washing machine. Mina said she could not give a budget price over the phone because the technician must come round to confirm that that is the problem. Mina also told me that its R 350.00 to troubleshoot the problem, but it is included in the price of the repairs, if I accept the quote. Elvis the technician arrives, I explain the problem, I rotate the drum to demonstrate the problem, he rotates the drum, and within a minute confirms my suspicions and quotes the repair at R 2 800.00, and suggests that the repair is not worth doing, considering the price of a new machine. This conclusion I would have reached myself without paying the R 350.00. The moral here is, deal with people that are not purely looking for ways to extract your money without delivering any service value. This is one business that won’t be seeing me again.
To anyone contemplating using South African Relocations for their move! My experience with this crowd was horrendous to say the least! I’m just going to note some of the experiences after great promises by the salesperson: Poor packaging to no packaging at all done; Disastrous inventory listing with no item numbers (48 instances) double numbers (36 instances); many instances of no descriptions of contents in boxes at all; illegible inventory lists; contents packed with poor packaging materials; items stacked in the boxes in ways leading to breakages and serious scuffing; many instances of boxes too small for the items; vinyl records piled up instead of vertical packing, etc. etc. The container packing was a total joke, with fragile items underneath heavy ones, loosely packed items, leading to damages. The 6-week delivery plan turns into 3 month delivery (covid-19 was not the issue), container parked off for 3 weeks in an active port, container travelled halfway around the globe. You have been warned, you decide!
Mike is the owner & claims 34 yrs in the industry. He can be rude, lies & is dismissive. Did not do work first time correctly and left self-induced problems after 3 attempts to repair. Fiddles with components that do not concern the reason that took me there and then claims he didn't. Despite all the experienced claimed, was not prepared to recommend someone that could sort the problem that was induced by himself. When out of ideas, starts to blame other components. So watch out for him!
When Auto&General insurance told me I had to take the car in for the hail damage repairs at Renew-it in Rivonia and I read the hellopeter reviews, I insisted that I did not want them near my car. According to A&G, who no doubt is getting a great deal from Renew-it, it then had to be Renew-it Randburg, who at that stage seem to have less bad reviews. The job was originally quoted as 5 to 7 working days. The job lingered on from 22 January to 5 June 2018. During this time, the car spent 4 full weeks in their possession in 3 different occasions. To cut a long story short, they eventually did a good job of the hail damage, but the car landed up with damages, poor workmanship on the refitting of the interior trim, mal-adjustments and inflicted damages that were not there before they took possession of the car. Despite A&G’s offer to get Renew-it Randburg to repaint the front bumper, I refused to leave the vehicle in their hands any longer. Furthermore, when they eventually addressed the stuck seatbelt that had been jammed from the first time they worked on the vehicle, they even went to the trouble of deliberately loosening the roof rack rail. They are just impossible and on a mission of their own, which has very little to do with satisfying the owner of the cars that go there.
