Active since Oct 2017
In September 2013 I was bombarded into entering into a contract with VRS (Lifestyle Vacation Club), while on vacation at a resort. On the 19th of September 2016 my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and was not able to continue working, 1stly because he’d have to pass a strict medical, no longer possible and 2ndly he has been undergoing treatment and his job required that he be abroad for 2 to 3 months at a time, making weekly or fortnightly treatments impossible. I informed VRS that our financial situation has changed and that I no longer have the means to pay for the product which I have never used due to lack of availability. It has been more than a year and I have received no reply from the review committee. Notwithstanding cancelling the debit order in the correct way as stipulated by their contract, they keep unlawfully deducting funds from my husband’s account which results in more financial distress. We use all our funds for medical bills and treatment, our only income is interest earned from an investment which is not enough to cover even our basic household expenses and since there is no exit clause in the contract we are expected to keep paying the monthly charges until the review committee makes a decision, as I mentioned before, it’s been more than a year. My husband has been reversing the debit orders resulting in this account being in arrears, I have now been handed over to attorneys for collection, pending the outcome of the review committee. Now they are informing me that the committee will conveniently be closed from 10/11/2017 only opening on 1/2/2018.
