Over Dec last year we visited Edgars and a 'consultant' approached us and informed us that Edgars was updating their Edgars card system and asked if we wanted to update our details, which we did. Unbeknownst to us the consultant also enrolled us on the Edgars club. We received a statement for Jan with a zero balance, which was correct. We have now received a statement for Feb (?) With a balance for R100.23. According to the statement this is for membership fees of R50.00 for Jan and Feb plus R0.23 interest for late payment for the Jan statement. We went to a branch to cancel the membership as we did not sign up for it. The branch provided us with a number to call, which we did. The calls were not answered. Upon returning to the branch, the sales consultant offered to call from her phone as there was a better chance of the call being answered, which was indeed the case. After explaining the situation to the the agent, she commented that there were lots of complaints about the same issue, and that the consultants on the floor over Dec were paid commissions to sign up people. According to a supervisor there has to be an investigation before the balance can be reversed. We were given a reference number and promises were made tocontact us. It seems that Edgars are once again being unethical with their business practices.
We have used them twice and received great service on both occasions. Technicians are knowledgeable and quick to complete the job. There are probably other companies providing the same service closer but we are very happy with Linden Appliances.
Avoid using these guys.! All they do is source out the work to other incompetent contractors. They probably then take a cut of the money. We had someone sent by them come out to do some work. Payment was made to Anchor Plumbing for which I see there are numerous complaints.
