OK, so firstly, let me just say that Absa iDrive Vehicular Insurance can cancel an insurance policy with immediate effect telephonically, but Altech Netstar requires a "ONE MONTH NOTICE" of cancelation for a "contract" with NO SET TERM, so in other words, they EXPECT you to pay AN ENTIRE MONTHS PREMIUM EVEN THOUGH YOUR CAR HAS BEEN TRADED IN!?!?!?!? Am I missing something here????????????? How the HELL can ANYONE expect you to pay for a service for an entire month, that YOU ARE NOT EVEN USING!?!? Talk about "unfair business practice"!!! The bottom line is, I traded my car in on the 14th of January 2022, now I am being threatened with legal action because I didn't pay the January premium OR the one month's notice!?!?!? That's R344 odd Rands that they expect me to pay without so much as even a warning letter/message & even though there was NO set contractual period!?!?!?? What kind of unscrupulous business practice is this that I'm expected to pay for a service I can no longer use..?????? So I'm expected to know which make & model car I'm trading in for & expected to play accordingly ONE ENTIRE MONTH PRIOR TO A TRADE IN????????????? This is frikkin INSANITY, not to mention, CRIMINAL!!!
The building in which my girlfriend, her daughter & myself resided at was bought over by new owners in April/May of 2018.. The new owners employed a new rental agency (DEM Properties) to manage the building. The leasing agent in charge of our building is a woman by the name of Robyn Bruce. Robyn arrived at our flat on Saturday the 19th of May 2018 with contractors, informing us that they were there to install & connect both an electricity meter as well as a water meter. This, without giving us any notice in writing & without first renewing our lease which had expired at the end of December 2017 & was never renewed & thus, had reverted to a month-to-month basis.. We refused to allow them to install meters as we had a verbal agreement with the previous leasing agency (Wakefields) in which our rental was inclusive of lights & water.. The reason we had a verbal agreement instead of a written agreement is due to there being an error in our lease agreement in which it stated there were already water & electricity meters, which there were not, so I brought this to the attention of Wakefields & was told to take our rent as inclusive of water & lights until the issue had been resolved & a new contract draughted.. That was the last we heard on the subject for well over a year until the new owners bought over the building & contracted DEM Properties as the leasing agents.. We told Robyn Bruce before the contractors installed the meters that it was unlawful to make such changes to our rent without prior agreement from BOTH parties & without giving us notice of at least two months IN WRITING so as to make the necessary arrangements to adjust our budgets accordingly!! Her response was that she's never heard of a landlord renting a house/flat out as INCLUSIVE of water or lights, so we shouldn't complain, to which we responded by informing her duly of our intention to deduct the cost of water & lights from the monthly rental in lieu of their unfair & unethical business practice!! We then began to receive harassing letters every month from lawyers, threatening to take us to court, etc.. I eventually contacted the lawyers & informed them of the situation, following which, the harassment ceased!!! On the 31st of December 2018 we moved to a new residence, after having given our notice.. We STILL, to date, have not yet been paid back our Breakage Deposit of R5250 or our Utilities Deposit of R1200 nor have we been paid the interest accrued on both sums over a two year period, instead, we received an Email on Friday the 25th of January 2019, informing us that the total amount deducted from our breakage deposit for the cost of water & lights is equal to R5200 & as such, DEM Properties will only pay us R1250!!! I'm FURIOUS to say the least!!! I've never had the misfortune ****il now) of dealing with such total & utter incompetence & thievery!!!
In March/April of this year (2017), my Cell-Phone, Tablet & Mobile Wifi Router were stolen from my vehicle.. The Tablet & Wifi Router were on contract so thus, were insured, the Cell-Phone, however, was on pre-paid & thus, was not insured!!! Upon being stolen, I went to the police station to open a case & get a CAS number so as to lodge an insurance claim on the Tablet & Wifi Router.. When I went in-store to the Bluff Hillside Mall branch, I was informed that my Tablet was insured AS WAS MY CELL-PHONE, yet my Wifi Router, was NOT insured!?!?! I had cancelled the Cell-Phone Insurance several months prior to the theft as it was no longer on contract & I had used my upgrade to purchase the Tablet!!! As for the Wifi Router, I had received a phone call whilst at work, from a Vodacom Consultant, who told me I had been "specially selected" for a special promotion deal they were running at the time, for which I qualified for!! The consultant gave me a breakdown over the phone of the costs involved, which INCLUDED an insurance premium!!! After a couple weeks of back & forth phone calls to their Insurance Department, back & forth trips to this particular Bluff branch & NUMEROUS arguments, I was told by the Insurance Dept Manager (Allister) that from what he could see on his sytem, I was indeed insured for the Tablet & that he could see that I had indeed cancelled the Cell-Phone Insurance Policy, but that there was NO RECORD of me ever having an Insurance Policy on the Mobile Wifi Router!!! I am an honest person, so I gladly admitted the fact that I was no longer insured for the cell phone, but I was INDEED insured for the Wifi Router & the Tablet!! So, apparently they were to investigate & get back to me once they had concluded their investigation... I'm STILL waiting!!!!! I STILL do not have a replacement Wifi Router handset, yet I'm STILL paying for it.. I STILL have no cell phone as I can't afford to replace it due to my financial constraints!!!! I have been in-store to both the Bluff Hillside Mall branch & the Bluff Towers branch, as well as to the Westville Pavillion branch, I have phoned their customer care, customer complaints, accounts dept as well as the insurance dept on NUMEROUS occasions, too numerous to recall & I am constantly being bounced around from consultant to consultant, none of which have the authorisation to process my claim, etc.. I'm starting to get the feeling, that I'm being led around by the nose intentionally, in the hopes that I will just shut up & keep paying to appease them, at MY expense!!! Aside from this, I was lied to by the staff at the Bluff Hillside Mall branch, who claimed that I could ONLY have the cell phone replaced & NOT the Tablet (which, coincedentally is half the value of the Tablet & would be the third insurance claim on the cell phone policy, so would thus cost me about R1500 excess, as opposed to the FIRST claim on the Tablets' policy, which amounted to about R450)!!! I eventually managed to get my insurance claim on my Tablet processed & it was duly replaced at the Westville Pavillion branch, as they were the only outlet within reasonable driving distance of the Bluff where I reside, yet, to this date, the Wifi Router has STILL not been replaced & I have STILL not received ANY feedback AT ALL on the outcome of their investigation to locate the call recording in which their consultant quoted me INCLUDING insurance!!!! I am LIVID, to say the least!!!
I bought a cell phone (BlackBerry 8510 Curve) on account through Edgars & took out an insurance policy on the cell phone.. I paid the cell phone off in full over a two year period & cancelled the insurance policy.. Shortly thereafter, the cell phone was accidentally destroyed!! I then bought a new cell phone (BlackBerry Z10) through a Cell Phone Service Provider & took out a new insurance policy through the Service Provider.. I have been paying my Edgars account for over three years, unable to close it as there were constantly new charges being billed to my account, for an Edgars Magazine Subscription that I have no memory of ever subscribing to, as well as CELL PHONE INSURANCE for the BlackBerry 8510 Curve (which I CANCELLED more than three years ago)!!! According to their records, no such cancellation was made as they have no record of it, however, almost every single time I physically went in-store to the Edgars Bluff branch, I had to update my personal details, such as my physical address, which, for some unknown reason, ALSO does NOT reflect on their records!?!? They STILL have my physical address at which I lived MORE THAN TEN YEARS AGO on their records, this, despite the fact that I've moved more than a DOZEN times since then & have updated my account information more than a few dozen times over the course of the last three plus years!!! Coupled with all of the above, they (Edgars) are now insisting that "I" provide THEM with proof of cancellation, for something that was indeed cancelled more than three years ago!! In September of 2016, my mother went in-store to pay up my account on my behalf, bringing my balance to R0.00 & to close the account down for me.. She was informed that I would personally need to come in-store to cancel the account.. Several months later, I received a letter in the post stating that my account was in arrears & threatening to hand me over to their Debt Collectors if I didn't make an immediate payment!! I went in-store in February of 2017 to query this & upon requesting a breakdown of the installment, was informed that the Cell Phone Insurance Policy WAS STILL ACTIVE!!! I requested they cancel the policy with IMMEDIATE effect, as I had ALREADY cancelled it three plus years prior!!! I then spoke to a consultant over the phone, whilst at the Bluff branch & was told that the account would be suspended & no charges would be made to the account pending the outcome of their investigation, for which I was to receive feedback.. I never did receive any feedback at all.. A couple months ago, I received an Email, threatening to hand me over to their Debt Collectors if my account was not paid in full immediately!!! I again went in-store to their Bluff branch (in November of 2017, I think) & upon speaking to a consultant from their accounts department, was informed that there had NEVER been ANY cancellation of the Cell-Phone Insurance Policy (not even in February of 2017) this, despite the fact that there were NO further charges billed to my account since February!!! Furthermore, I have been harrassed telephonically, threatened via Email, had my girlfriend harrassed telephonically as well as via SMS, as well as had my mother harrassed via SMS... I've also been laughed at over the phone & had consultants hang up in my ear, in mid-sentence!! I've been put on hold for extended periods of time on purpose, been argued with over the phone, etc, etc, ETC..!! All by their Debt Collection Agency & consultants from their accounts department.. After requesting they cease the harrassment of my mother, my girlfriend & myself, they are CONTINUING to harrass my girlfriend rather than correspond with ME via Email!!! In summary, either their software systems are in DIRE need of a MAJOR upgrade, or their staff are too incompetent to capture my personal info on their Central Database!!! The request was made to cancel this Insurance Policy more than three years ago, yet they are refusing on the basis that "no call was logged on record" conveniently ignoring the fact that they STILL have the INCORRECT physical address on my account profile, despite being updated on DOZENS of occasions!!! I am extremely unimpressed & quite frankly, DISGUSTED by the manner in which I feel they are trying to swindle me out of my hard earned money!!!
