I purchased a coffee table at the beginning of Sept this year for which I paid CASH. On purchase the salesperson mentioned that they had no stock , but will check with their warehouse which other store has it. Nevertheless, the salesperson comes back to me a few days layer stating there is no stock in stores and they are waiting for shipment which should be in a weeks time. During all of this time, I am still very patient and tolerant. Towards the end of September, I delivery of my purchases. Lo and behold, that product looked like it was lying in a store, and was wrapped and delivered to me. It had scratch marks and totally unacceptable. We sent it back with the driver, on tge same day. A few days later, the salesperson, by tge name of Theo, calls me to say they still waiting for shipment of the new stock. Im still very patient and tolerant, bear in mind its over a month tgat I've paid for an item but dont have delivery ofit. Then finally, I get delivery towards the end of the first week in October . Lo and behold, this is worse than the first item delivered. This had paint and chip issues. The driver took pics of it, and reported the matter. The salesperson calls me bck, apologizing , yet again, and again with no issue reolv3d. He said that he will have to report the matter and it takes 7 days. The coffee table is still with me. The manager finally calls me today, in the midst of me writing this review, saying that she emailed the warehouse and waiting for a response ( btw) I wouldn't have even received this call from her. Its because there was a missed call from me that she responded . It isbow 16h25, Tuesday. She called me 15 min bck. I had informed the salesperson last week that I am away from this week Thursday, and bck only end Oct, and he must please ensure delivery must be done prior to my departure. The manager ONLY emails now to the warehouse and is waiting for a response 🙄 Tomorrow is Wednesday. So is my delivery going to be done tomorrow?. I dont know and neither does the manager. The quality of products sold at Rochester is sub standard, in my opinion and after sales service sucks big time. I WILL NOT recommend them nor purchase from them ever. And I know for a fact that tgere was somebody else tgat purchase from the same store and had there purchase exchanged 3 times before finally accepting it My money is earning interest in your bank account, while it's 2 months and I haven't received my purchases to date. Can Snr mngmnt please look into this and resolve this asap., as it's not a good reputation for your store as a whole. Thank you
Purchased a lounge suit 5 years back from Born Furniture...(Now, apparently known as "Chesterfield) Workmanship was absolutely shoddy and a total disaster. Contacted them. They took back the furniture, with no improvement to the Workmanship. We then requested for a full refund. They were not prepared to give back a full refund. Told me that I will only get back what they sold the suite for. They were going to short pay me R11000 to what I actually paid for it. We refused to accept the offer and decided to take the legal route. It was after 2 years of legal battle, the owner of Born Furniture, Jacob Bornman" decided" to refund the money, on proviso that I remove my original review of this entire debacle from"Hello Peter". I then contacted "Hello Peter" to remove my review, due to the fact that he will refund us our money only if we remove my review ,which was then removed by "hellopeter" We were then asked to provide our banking details, in order for the refund to be made to us, and months passed by with still NO refund. I then contacted his attorney, and was advised by them, that they were under the impression that the money was refunded to us and claimed that they were no longer representing him. We then continued pursueing the matter with our attorney's and it still is being pursued, with NO Money returned to date, and no lounge suite( R50 000 + interest) ...We have now discovered that he no longer trades under the name of "Born Furniture", but under "Chesterfield". He has shut his doors at his previous premises where he was trading as Born Furniture where the Sheriff had tried to deliver a warrant of execution and attachment order...only to discover he has moved to another premises, with a different name. I don't know how many other people he is owing money, to, but please be aware of this. The matter is still ongoing..... How many other people were or are in the same or similar position with this company, as we are..??? I have decided to repost my review on Hello Peter, to inform all .,
I ordered and paid for a lounge suite in October 2017 from Born Furniture. The first couch that was delivered , we had no issues with it. We then decided to order a complete lounge suite from them due to the fact that the single couch that we ordered was made to specification. However, it was the greatest and most expensive mistake we have ever made. To date I have not received my lounge suite, (Which by the way was paid for IN FULL, 2nd December 2017) This is my story and I suggest that nobody ever orders a "modern" lounge suite from BORN Furniture , because they do not know how to make it. We ordered our lounge suite in Oct 2017, (which I paid 50 % dep at the time) and was promised delivery of it within a month (Nov 2017). We finally received the lounge suite 2nd December, a day before we were departing overseas. After it was delivered, we picked up many faults with it. I immediately called our sales person and informed her of it. (On the same day of delivery). I told her that we are traveling overseas the next morning. However, my son and helper were at home and they need to collect it and rectify the faults. She then told me not to stress, and just enjoy my holiday and they will sort it out when I return. However the factory closed for the holidays mid December 2017. She then told me to contact her the 2nd of January 2018, which I did, to arrange for pick up. After numerous calls to them, they finally picked up the lounge suite 16 January to have it sorted. I then NEVER heard from them and thought I would give them a month to sort out. I finally contacted the owner telephonically end February. I told him that it has now been over a month since the lounge suit was returned and I have not heard anything from them. He then promised that it would be sorted within the following week. (1st week in March). Still nothing done and NO delivery. I then call Jacob (the owner) and asked him what was going on as I still have not received delivery (Remember it is now 5 months that have passed with no lounge suite). He then informs me that I told him that i was going overseas etc, etc. I then told him that he got his facts mixed up and I did not tell him that I was going overseas. I told his sales person (Pat) in December 2017 that I was going overseas for 3 weeks......not in Feb 2018 (when I spoke to him). By now I was totally frustrated and annoyed by this. I then got my husband to call him that afternoon. I must admit that my husband was cool and calm when he started the conversation with Jacob BUT turned out ugly in the end as JAcob was insistent that I told him that I was going overseas ( What the hell). My husband then demanded that we receive a FULL refund on our lounge suite and they can keep the trash that they were going to supply us. Jacob said to him that no way in hell that he was going to refund our money. He insisted that we come to his factory and look at the suite again and see if it was all in order before they deliver it, as we stay in Alberton and the factory is in Pretoria and we do not want it going back & forth if there were still faults. Eventually my husband & I did go to the factory (2nd week in March) and luckily we did as there were still many faults on it. The owner was not present but we met with a lady (Vicky) who is suppose to be the quality controller. We then showed her all the faults again (which was supposedly to bethe "Fixed" couches) and she agreed that it will be sorted within a week. However, as we know by now, she called to say that it was not ready. By now I have had enough . However, we still hang on a bit more. She finally calls me day before yesterday to say that delivery will be yesterday (28 March). She calls me in the morning again 8.30 am, I then tell her to please inform me what time delivery would be as my husband needs to be somewhere. She promises to call me back and tell me. Almost half the day goes by and I finally get a call from a lady called Gussy at 11.15, to say that delivery will be done in the afternoon. (Half day gone already). I get home at 16h00 and I call Vicky again to ask what is happening as we have not received delivery at it is almost late afternoon. She then tells me that the truck has just left. I then get a call at 17h30from Vicky to say that they now picked up a scratch/tear on on the leather on one the couches . By now I have lost all patience and tolerance with them. How can they pick this up (the tear/scratch) because when I called her she told me that the truck had left. LIES< LIES < LIES. My husband and I refuse to take the lounge suite back as this has been trying to be "Fixed" for the past 4 months. This is no longer a brand new suite. It is now a repaired lounge suite. They have not contacted me since this morning and I asked the lady yesterday if it was going to be delivered today. Please, please I now beg for assistance . Not sure how to resolve this matter as we no longer want the lounge suite and want a full refund, which we requested from the begining . PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM BORN FURNITURE. They have branches in Pretoria & Parktown.
