BORN FURNITURE, now Trading as "Chesterfield".are .THIEVES.. BEWARE
Purchased a lounge suit 5 years back from Born Furniture...(Now, apparently known as "Chesterfield) Workmanship was absolutely shoddy and a total disaster. Contacted them. They took back the furniture, with no improvement to the Workmanship. We then requested for a full refund. They were not prepared to give back a full refund. Told me that I will only get back what they sold the suite for. They were going to short pay me R11000 to what I actually paid for it. We refused to accept the offer and decided to take the legal route. It was after 2 years of legal battle, the owner of Born Furniture, Jacob Bornman" decided" to refund the money, on proviso that I remove my original review of this entire debacle from"Hello Peter". I then contacted "Hello Peter" to remove my review, due to the fact that he will refund us our money only if we remove my review ,which was then removed by "hellopeter" We were then asked to provide our banking details, in order for the refund to be made to us, and months passed by with still NO refund. I then contacted his attorney, and was advised by them, that they were under the impression that the money was refunded to us and claimed that they were no longer representing him. We then continued pursueing the matter with our attorney's and it still is being pursued, with NO Money returned to date, and no lounge suite( R50 000 + interest) ...We have now discovered that he no longer trades under the name of "Born Furniture", but under "Chesterfield". He has shut his doors at his previous premises where he was trading as Born Furniture where the Sheriff had tried to deliver a warrant of execution and attachment order...only to discover he has moved to another premises, with a different name. I don't know how many other people he is owing money, to, but please be aware of this. The matter is still ongoing..... How many other people were or are in the same or similar position with this company, as we are..??? I have decided to repost my review on Hello Peter, to inform all .,

Born Furniture will be sued
Bought a couch for almost R40000, with in two months there was craftmanship problems. Born furniture was contacted with photos of the defects. They cam to fetch the couch and was returned almost 3 months later and with the same defects. They came again to fetch the couch and after numerous calls and WhatsApp's the couch was returned and with even more bad workmanship. The same is issues are there and the was a lot of bad patch work done. The owner does not respond to calls and WhatsApp's and even asked me once what is it that I want? FIX MY COUCH!!!! or refund me. They are always setting up new shop at a different place????

Born Furniture will be sued

Poor workmanship and bad customer service
There is a vast difference between what is shown on Born Furniture's website and what the company produces. I ordered a customised couch from them in November 2020. I was not pleased with the quality of the couch which they made for me. I cancelled my order in December 2020 and requested that my deposit be refunded. Jacob J Strauss Bornman - the business owner - accepted my order cancellation and committed to reselling the couch and paying me back during the first quarter of 2021. He said the couch would be changed to the standard design - i.e., the design on their website - and that it would sell in no time as it is popular design. As of yesterday - the end of the first quarter of 2021 - Jacob J Strauss Bornman is saying that the couch is yet to be changed to the standard design, it is yet to be sold, and that he is not god, he cannot see into the future, and therefore cannot predict when the couch will be sold or when he will pay me back. Jacob J Strauss Bornman is clearly trying to pull a fast one on me! As a result of the poor workmanship and bad customer service, I would not recommend Born Furniture.

more then 8 months later and deposit of 32000 gone, ongoing promises, where not kept
8 months and 32000.00 out of pocket promises over and over , apologies, and ongoing new dates set, but all not honored , when asking for deposit back, became rude .......fully trusted owner , but i should have checked hello peter as many more people complained of his born furniture, everything was looking promising, loved the product, but nope after 8 months empty promises , not will not recommend, to anybody ...

WORST FURNITURE AND CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
Worst experience ever. Bought bought leather couches 3 sitter,2 sitter both leather and 1 sitter fabric on the 1/02/2020 for R74 090.00 from Born Furniture . Within the first month, the leg came off from the 3 seater, the leather stated to have black stains and pealing from both the 3 seater and 2 seater. The 1 sitter was not properly stitched. The couches look like they are 15 years old at just less than 3 months. When addressing the issue with Gussy and Jacob, they came to collect the couches after 2 months of emails, calls and messages. Now the couches are still at their factory and we were told that we don't know how to take good care of the couches cause WE SIT ON THEM and they will not repair them. It's been a month now since our couches are with them and no communication whatsoever Regrettably first and last purchase I will ever make in this company

Stealing furniture
They stole a mahogany table from us after they were evicted for not paying rent for 7 months. Police case opened about the table. Just make sure you don't purchase any stolen furniture. If you buy stolen furniture (even without you knowing it's stolen) you can be charged and put in jail.

Furniture is Falling Apart
I can tell you now that the positive reviews are fake or by Born Furniture. The Furniture took forever to arrive and when it did the quality was not as seen on screen. 2 months later the wood is coming apart from whatever glue they used. You would think the quality would be great for the prices they charge. Terrible experience all around.
