I was taken out to a Fathers' Day lunch at Park Town. Opted for a 200g fillet steak. Probably worst fillet steak I've ever eaten. Burnt on the outside but medium rare inside as I ordered. But it tasted off and even the runny and insipid pepper sauce didn't make things better. I didn't want to complain at the table and embarrass my children so had a quiet word with the lady in charge. We've all had bad steaks but the reason for me posting this is that she didn't even care and dismissed my complaint as if it didn't matter. I'm sure that the complaint never reached the kitchen staff and therefore things like this will happen again. Clearly, next time, if we want a decent steak, we will have to go to a proper steak house!
I always have concerns when going to a restaurant that offers two for the price of one. Issues of quality are the main reason. On Tuesdays, Nice on Poplar offers two pastas or pizzas with the cheapest free. Sit down only. Well the food was poor and expensive. Only penne pasta was available and this was overcooked and soggy. As for the chicken or salmon that was supposed to accompany the pasta, this was almost missing. There was some sauce though! As for the pizza, the so called mozzarella cheese had a strange odour to it which the staff blamed on a new supplier. Frankly, you can get better Italian food at the fast food takeaways. And beer! A 500ml Leffe costs R79! That right, R79. As a consumer you can buy a 20 litre keg for the equavalent of R30 for 500ml. I have no doubt Nice on Poplar can get this beer cheaper so they are charging almost three times cost. What a *******! Sorry Nice on Poplar, your food and drinks just cannot be recommended. Better value elsewhere.
Probably the worst service I've ever come across. It took two years to rebuild my engine and even then I had to finish off the job myself. Whatever you do, don't pay Mr Bert Osmers upfront as I did. Customer satisfaction is a joke for Bert.
