My vehicle passed through their Cape Town yard as part of a Discovery Insure claim. Initially, some of these reviews had me worried, but they took excellent care of my vehicle for the day or two it spent there. They took 30+ photos upon its arrival to record the condition and 30+ more upon its departure. Nothing missing or damaged as some of these reviews might lead you to believe.
Net Assess authorized the incorrect specification headlights for a my vehicle following a minor accident, which is both shocking and revealing about their competence. This ultimately meant that Discovery had to pay for new headlights twice, the second time using OEM parts from Toyota South Africa. I sincerely hope Discovery reconsiders their relationship with this company, because it is costing them business, including mine.
I'm leaving a review here in the hope that Discovery will contact me, because my claims consultant is no longer replying to my emails, which is both shocking and unprofessional. It has been ten days since I've last heard from Discovery - my vehicle was stripped of some cosmetic trim parts after being towed in. Unfortunately, the part is not sold separately by Toyota and reinstating it involves buying a whole R 12 000 replacement bumper. This is in addition to an unecessarily protracted claims process thanks to NetAssess authorizing incorrect specification parts, which required multiple rounds of repairs and wasted a tremendous amount of my time. I am very disappointed by Discovery and strongly considering taking all my insurance, medical aid, life cover, even banking, away from them. Vitality benefits are amazing but do not outweigh the poor service I've received these past few months.
I bought a 2.6 m PVC backdrop with a mounting system in their online store. Very pleased with my purchase - it fits my single garage perfectly. Bonus: free delivery from GP to WC in less than 72 hours.
I have previously purchased their warranty and service plans, and will considering doing so again. The service plans are especially worth it for cars with engines with pricey timing belts / chains that require replacement at intervals (according to the manufacturer's listed maintenance schedule). HOWEVER - consumers should note: even if you buy BOTH the Service Plan and the Maintenance Plan, you are on your own for replacement brakes, clutches, batteries, tyres and wipers. These are all wear and tear items you will have to replace when a car hits 120 000+ kilometers and ones you may reasonably assume are included in a SERVICE PLAN. THEY ARE NOT INCLUDED. These exclusions are not made particularly clear when you take out the plan and they then fool you into thinking that you are covered. For the big bills, sorry - you will be on your own.
The only reliable thing about these buses is that they will definitely be late. If you buy a car instead and sit in Cape Town’s ********** traffic, you will still arrive sooner than you would using MyCiti.
I purchased a delicate chair on auction in Johannesburg - they wrapped and safely transported it to me within three working days. I am a very satisfied customer and will be making use of their services again!
I've had a reasonably positive experience with one of their service plans purchased through We Buy Cars. It took a bit longer for the service consultants to get authorization from them to proceed with a large service, but they got there in the end and covered every maintenance item (including a pricey timing belt). As for the warranties - they are not worth the paper they are written on. You purchase them for piece of mind that you're covered if something goes wrong, but no... Claims take days if not weeks, while your car is in the shop, awaiting repairs. They will decline mechanical failure items and tell you / your service consultant that it is a wear item. Wouldn't be surprised if these guys are on the receiving end of a class-action lawsuit soon.
Placed an order online, got it a few days later. They seemed to have sorted out their issues from before.
For anyone wondering about the legitimacy of this company… it’s fraud.
