Bought an Android TV Box. The DSTV shortcut did not work however the app managed to load from the Settings/Apps menu once. Thereafter it did not load again. It keeps going in a loop to Update the App. I tried logging a request with the Support function on their website which then also goes in to a loop. I get to the end of the submission form, click on "I'm not a Robot", select relevant images, submit request, get "Sending" but then reverts back to "I'm not a Robot". Then I tried calling the number listed on their website but the call does not connect. We do sometimes struggle to connect calls where I live and thought initially that was the case. However, i made 3 calls to other places for pricing I need on something not related and realised this is not the case. I tried contacting the number again 8 times in total over a period of an hour and no luck. I did some test calls to make sure I have connectivity. I also emailed them on Friday to try get some response with assistance and it is Tuesday today. No response. Besides the failing apps, the product itself is not as advertised. The resolution of the output is 4k but the picture quality is 720p or lower. This tested side by side with a 2k device, the 2k device far outperforms the 4K TV UL AGB. I can live with my poor choice of purchase without research but I can not live with the fact that the company, if still existing, offer no support for their products whatsoever at all.
I bought 3 items from The Bot Shop in Pretoria using their Online store and opted to pick up in store. The items I got was 2x lm386 3w amps and 1x TDA 7927 amp kit. The 2x lm386 amps works as I intended to use them as a pre amp for my Turntable with a few modifications. Usually I would build these myself but opted for the easier option. The TDA 7297 kit however not the same. It is a very basic little kit for the DIY guy to assemble. Upon unpacking the kit I discovered that the legs on the IC was bent badly and there was solder on it already as if soldered before. The backplate of the IC had clear marks on it as if it was mounted before. It was a second hand IC. My first thoughts were that I should have checked the product in store before leaving but obviously did not do so. I assembled the kit and found that one channel on this little stereo amp was dead. I replied to the email that was used to send my invoice, sales@botshop.co.za, and informed them of this. I did not expect anything other than some form of acknowledgement that my email was received. In this email I suggested they tell their customers to check items before taking receipt. a week later I received an email asking to review my purchase. Which I did. The lm386 got 5 stars. The TDA7297 got 1 star with a wroteup of what I found. Moments later I received an email from Judge.me, the email address support@judge.me. It was an automated response to.my 1 star review and I confirmed it. I was then contacted by Charity from The Bot Shop, charity@botshop.co.za. She wrote in her email that they will check the product from now and included that it is at it is received from their supplier. That was all fine at this point. What did however happen next was that my review was removed from their website. Apparently this is done by Judge.me. Charity then offered to refund me my R50 odd for the kit and asked for my banking detail. I sent it on. Charity then wrote that it has been forwarded to their accounts department. Generally not pedantic about these things but they still have not refunded the R50 odd as was offered by Charity. And that is the problem. If they can not keep their word on the small things then they will not be able to do so on the big things.
Note that I tried to contact Checkers Customer Care via phone and their website for this submission but it would not accept my submission nor was my call answered. This relates to Checkers Centurion Lifestyle. On Fridays I like to make a steak burger for my wife and I and prefer to do this with Beef Texan Steak. The standard in South Africa is to use cross cut leg. I went to Checkers and got a piece. When I got home and opened the meat from the sealed package and noticed that the meat was tenderised, with a meat mallet or one of those roller machines that some butchers use. This is not common pratice for making a Texan Steak particularly because there is usually a piece of bone from the leg in it. Still did not think much of it because I was hungry so I heated the pan anyway. The meat had rested for an hour at this point. I cut the meat in to 4 pieces and noticed it was a bit tough and thought my knife needed sharpening. I cut the onions, tomato and cheese with the same knife with ease though. I then proceeded to fry it in the grilling pan 1 minute per side as I have done literally more than 2000 times be it on a fired grill or grilling pan. After that I put together my wife's burger and then mine. She immediately said "no this isn't going to work". I asked what the problem was and she pointed out that she can not bite through the meat. To which I replied No not possible. I have done it like this many times and the exact same way as last friday and all the ones before that. To my greatest disappointment I found that my bugers were exactly the same. It was the toughest meat I had ever tried to eat. It was not the normal collagen you would find but rather sinew with some meat on. The sinew ran parallel with the cut so it was a sheet or sheath of sinew. No amount of marinade or tenderising would have softened it up. And it being the incorrect cut it would never produce the same result as so many times before. I am sure that there is a market for such a thing but it does not belong in any butchery being falsly labelled a Texan Steak. Texan Steak gets its name from it size and the cut used. Not from the spice and flavour. The spice and flavour is copied from a Texas Steak which can be any cut but is not to be confused with Texan Steak which is a South African thing. I was a blockman in my early 20s, I know my cuts. Please make sure to inform your butchers to correctly label your meat and I will make sure to check what it is that I select next time.
