We had to have our TV repaired because, although it would switch on, it showed no picture or sound. A friend offered to take our TV to Wavecrest TV, because he knew the owner. What a friendly and helpful man! He promised to have our TV repaired ASAP but as it was already Friday afternoon it would have to be the next week. On Monday afternoon, to our delight he rang to say it was ready for us to collect. Unfortunately he does not have a pick-up or delivery service, but with a friend's help we have our TV back in service at a very reasonable repair cost.
We were fortunate to be invited out by a friend for a breakfast as a birthday gift. They suggested Gisters as it has easy access for me. I am 89 and have difficulty walking. My wife and I had not visited Gisters for over 10 years and were overwhelmed by the improvements we saw. To begin with the service was superb as a 'best place' was selected for us, away from too much noise and a cold wind. The breakfast menu was extensive and far from expensive. My bacon was thin cut and crispy, just as I like it. Chips were soft inside with a crispy outer. Scrambled eggs were cooked with butter and milk, NOT just a whipped-up egg. I couldn't have wished for more.
We decided to visit this restaurant for lunch and were surprised that we were the only customers. This is a place with an evening 'vibe' for younger diners. (we are 88!). We both ordered the ****pi prawn pasta which was delicious and a good sized portion.. The menu has a good selection of options and is imaginative. Prices are very competitive. Service was good and attentive and our very male waiter amused us as we left by doing gymnastic pull-ups on a door frame to prove his physical fitness. An enjoyable meal out.
I was woken up at 2.30 in the morning on a Sunday by severe abdominal pains and feared a serious condition, so I contacted Gardmed who were quick to respond and examined me in my own lounge with ECG, blood pressure etc. and diagnosed that my blood pressure was at 'stroke level'. They advised I go to Hospital in Port Elizabeth to see a doctor. In the ambulance they administered a saline drip to reduce the chance of a stroke and then transported me to hospital. It was found that the problem was gastric related and no longer serious, so I was able to return home. I can't praise the cheerfulness and efficiency enough. Its a service everyone should know about. They looked after everything, medical aid clearance, hospital contact and delivery to the appropriate place in the hospital.
We frequently eat out at Tampa Spur. They do deliver a meal if you want to eat at home, but we prefer the vibe you experience at our local Spur. The choice of food is great, they have pensioner specials (for which we qualify), and the service is always good. We also use them for a group outing; my wife is the chairperson of the local 'Herb Club' and has taken her committee for a group breakfast at the Spur with great success.
This is an owner run establishment and one of the only restaurants where I can say I have never been disappointed with the food. Steve, the owner, is always personally attentive and his menu does vary depending upon what is available to him. Seating is comfortable. I am particularly fond of the fish dishes and the prices are very competitive. The only problem for some people would be the fact that there is no outside eating area, but who cares? The ambiance is great.
When my wife and I first visited this restaurant, the owner was also there and the attention to detail and the advice he gave for selecting just what we wanted was fantastic. You can see everything that is being prepared and cooked as it is being done and every dish is prepared on the spot - no dipping into a pre-prepared mixture, Each customer order is treated as special and personal. Each curry is prepared mild, but can be adjusted to suit individual taste. Decor and ambiance is INDIAN without mistake. Our food was delicious and our lunch out was an experience not to be forgotten!
This is a used car sales outlet. Probably the most criticised business in the world! It is owned by Ian Thomson who has been unofficially voted the most honest businessman in the area. He is always attentive and helpful and is highly regarded by bereaved wives who always turn to him for help with their cars, which are usually their husband's old (and beloved) car. Having seen a letter of appreciation to his business on Facebook, it was astonishing to see 14 or so responses from other satisfied clients. A business you can trust
Our local fish and chip takeaway restaurant. Never been let down and the fish is always soft and flaky. There is a sit down area outside the shop close to the De Gama main road, which makes it a bit noisy, but on a warm day it's fine and you can hear the Indian Ocean breakers even if you can't see them. Prices are fair and very favourable compared to their competition.
It was my daughter's 60 birthday celebration and she was determined to take her parents to a good restaurant to celebrate. She loves fine dining, so we were curious to know where she would take us as there are no fine dining restaurants that we know of near to Jeffreys Bay. I asked where we were going and she said "Never Mind". I insisted, but the answer was always "Never Mind". I was astonished when we turned into the lighthouse at Cape St Francis to see new buildings there and a new restaurant. Never Mind was a delight. It is not a fine dining restaurant in the usual sense, but each dish is intended to be shared by the group at the table, so will have about 5 portions on the plate. It is recommended that each person orders 2 or 3 different dishes, then you all take what you want. My favorite was the prawn dish with a most unusual peanut sauce. The service was impeccable with the waiter able to describe all the many dishes in great detail. At the end of the meal the waiter brought in a free surprise sweet of baked cheesecake with burning sparklers stuck in it plus other small 'fudge-like' sweets from the kitchen. What a delightful (and very filling) lunch. We plan to return for a breakfast.
