I recently had a claim rejected by Standard Bank when a brick wall crashed through a bedroom ceiling. Obviously as a female purchaser I would be in no way qualified to know what's above a ceiling board. They call it bad design. I would have expected the banks building inspectors to do this if if was expected practice. Apparently the previous owners or previous previously owners built an extension knocking out ceiling height bricks but left concealed bricks behind without installing a lintel!!! The bedroom is still blocked off after I got an electrician on to isolate the dangerous area. The policy states an emergency R2000 for me to use at my discretion but now standard bank reject that as well. This happened about 14 days ago. Tell me was I supposed to climb into the ceiling before I bought the house.
Follow up on A B Movers Very unpleasant business from July 2017 to Sept 2019 Delays caused by A B MOVERS. Finally went to court and won 2 thirds of what I claimed. First approached PMA Professional movers associated. Their letter saying they would have a high level meeting regarding my complaint and subsequently acknowledging AB Movers are In fact not members and had not been members since 2016. I used AB Movers because they claimed to be members and PMA logo was on their advertising and quote. Danny Amaral kept quoting their association membership. ABM are no longer members of PMA . Next move Consumer council correspondence put blame on AB MOVERS for delays and agreed I should use small claims court. Took this letter to court as well. Made my case to Commissioner/magistrate short and concise. Highlighted important points and produced photos of damage. ABMOVERS Danny Amaral and Maria Costa were cowardly enough to send by her own admission DOGSBODY to do their dirty work. Fortunately she was a very nice DOGSBODY hence the Commissioner allowed her to represent ABMOVERS if I agreed. I did and we settled in a professional manner. ALSO GAVE COMMISIONER COPIES OF COMPLAINTS DOWNLOADED FROM HELLO PETER. Rosemary FYI acording to court website April 2019. You can claim upto R20 000 per case.
Don't use Ab movers if you want a good move
