MONATE GAME LODGE WILL NOT REFUND YOU! We attended a wedding at Monate in January 2025. We had credit for two rooms that we booked extra, but then contacted Monate on 27 November 2024 (5 weeks before the wedding) to let them know the persons could not attend the wedding anymore. Monate then made the rooms immediately available for other family and friends, because the accommodation were fully booked. The two rooms were then taken over by my family and they paid for the rooms themselves (Monate did not suffer any loss, as the rooms were then booked immediately). We then used some of the credit at the bar and on the day of departure, I went to the office to enquire about the outstanding credit balance. Karabo said they will EFT us the credit as they are not allowed to credit via the card machine or cash. We left the premises and then sent the banking details to Monate via e-mail, which they then rep**** and said they unfortunately can not refund us, AFTER Karabo said they will refund us the Sunday that we left. Karabo then e-mailed me and said she will pay the refund with her own money. Till this date, I haven't received any refund. If they told us on the day that they are not able to refund us, we would have spent the money that afternoon at Monate's restaurant or at the curio shop. This is an absolute disgrace, if anyone plans to visit Monate, do not pay them any money in advance, you will definitely not get your money back!
On Tuesday, 16 April 2024 at 07h21 we collected a car at Woodford Car Hire Cape Town International Airport. Upon collection we noticed a dent on the left rear door. We showed the dent to a Woodford employee, where after he said the dents were already marked on paper. He also advised us to take photo's of all the dents the car had - luckily we did take photo's off ALL the dents. On Sunday, 21 April 2024 at 05h15 we returned the car to Woodford CT International Airport. As Woodford was still closed, we left the car in the parking area at Woodford (and took a video of the car before we returned it) and threw the key in the Woodford box. At 14h02 Sunday I got an e-mail from Woodford, stating "NEW DAMAGED NOTE - Dent left rare door". This was exactly the same dent the car had when we collected it on Tuesday. I immediately rep**** Woodford and also forwarded the e-mail to capeclaims@woodford.co.za on Monday, 22 April at 09h56 with screenshots that shows the date and time I took the photo of the dents upon collection. On Monday, 22 April 2024 at 09h59 I got a reply from Rubin, regional claims administrator, that indicated that my e-mail were received. On Monday, 22 April at 15h08, I got an e-mail back from capeclaims@woodford.co.za stating that the damages have been noted and that I have 24-48 hours to complete the incident report. I then phoned Woodford and spoke to Tuscany - what a sarcastic lady. I haven't heard anything from Woodford again and still did not receive my deposit back. I will NEVER hire a car from Woodford again.
