Active since Jan 2020
We brought a Mercedes-Benz C 180 in October 2014 and the the warranty expired on 4 October 2020 The vehicle was serviced on 27/08/2020 and has about 65 000 km on the clock .The vehicle has done less than 1500 km since the last service and the car broke on the road on 19/10/2020 whilst on my way home. I arranged for a tow truck to take the vehicle to the Mercedes-Benz dealership in Pinetown and the following transpired. 1.I was given a quote of approximately R 68 000.00 to fix the injectors. 2.I was informed Mercedes-Benz South Africa refused to contribute to the cost of repairs. 3.Mercedes-Benz South Africa did not take into consideration that the vehicle could not operate during the COVID 19 lockdown. I decided to do some research on other motor vehicle brands and the following was discovered. 1.Audi SA is offering 3 month extension from expiry date of contract. 2.Isuzu is offering 2 month extension from expiry. 3 . Toyota is offering extension linked to period of lockdown. I am concerned that Mercedes-Benz is not offering similar incentive as we could not drive our cars. I am also concerned that I was informed by a car repair agent that it may be possible the petrol in south africa is not of good quality and that may be the reason for the injectors failing.I am filling petrol at a Shell service station 99% of the time for the last 3 years. I am hoping to hear from other car users if they have success in obtaining good will from Mercedes-Benz S A
