Please think twice before you decide to eat out at Safari Nursery in Pretoria East. Friday 4 December 2020 me and my colleagues from work had our Christmas get together at Safari nursery. We budgeted according to their menu published on their website which were reasonable and affordable. When we got there, we saw that the prices on their menu were triple what it was advertised for. The manager informed us that the menu on their website has the prices of the year 2012 and they are not able to update or remove it. I told him that by law you have to charge the prices for which you advertised a product. The manager said he is aware of that and apologized and offered us 20% discount. After we ate, and wanted to pay, he informed us that the owner overruled him and we will have to pay the full current prizes. I told him that we are left no choice to pay, but we are surely taking it further as we are not satisfied with their decision. We are taking the matter to the consumer board. We were deliberately misled by false advertising and again by the manager and owner of Safari Nursery.
I was amazed by how highly people are rating King Price- now I realize because when you contact them at first they are so friendly professional and helpful and even gives you R400 for each client that you successfully refer to them. And then they ask you very politely to go and rate their service as excellent on Hellopeter. I do not take out insurance to get commission or to receive a cash back bonus, I take out insurance to cover me against damages. I grew up in a time and age where you could rely on and trust people who provided a service to the community- teachers, priests, police, medical doctors and insurance. Insurance it seems however became a profit seeking backstabbing selfrigous business and here is my real life experience with King Price that I need to share to warn others: On 30 June 2019 I was at home with my daughter. My husband took my boy to swimming lesson. Our gardener saw how a perpetrator was stealing my husbands tools out of the garage over the fence. He took a grinder and a tool box with two power drills. The drills we found later in the bird sanctuary across the road. The grinder he dropped on the ground by our fence when our gardener apprehended him, and he ran off. The incident was reported to SAPS and the Insurance company (King Price). King Price rejected the claim on grounds that the garage door was not locked, even though I was at home. During the night of 5 and 6 February 2020 we had a housebreaking and theft at our property. Entrance was gained by damaging the electric fence and the garage door was forcefully broken open. Our street had load shedding between 11h00 and 01h00 during the night. Several items was stolen from our garage during the night. I reported the incident to SAPS as well as the insurance company (King Price) on 6 February 2020. On 6 February 2020 King Price informed me that the 2 claims has been registered- one for damage to the structure and the other for stolen content. On 7 February I received a message on my phone from the insurance informing me that Mr Mick Helena was assigned to assist with the processing of the claim and that he will contact me soon. In the absence of any further update from the insurance or Mr Mick Helena, my husband went and bought new tools to replace the ones that was stolen as he needed them because he was in the process of doing renovations to our house in preparation for my mother to move in with us. He also repaired the broken fence as well as the damaged lock to the garage himself as it posted a serious security risk. I therefor canceled the claim for the damage to the building/ structure that I registered with King Price. I send an e-mail on 11 February, and again on 12 February to King Price to inquire about progress on the claim, as I did not hear from them or Mr Helena as yet. As I did not get any response still, I called the insurance and they informed me that my claim was incorrectly referred to a "Caroline", and that Mr Helena will contact me. Mr Helena called me later during the day and arranged for an appointment with us on 14 February 2020. I also told him that I was very disappointed with the service provided by King Price and just want this claim finalized so that I can obtain insurance from another company. During his visit he took pictures of not only the garage where the theft took place, but also of my whole yard and the inside of our house. He asked me for a detailed description of the power tools and I advised him that he should wait for my husband who was on his way as I do not have those details. When my husband came, he insisted again on the exact watts/ voltage of the drills. My husband said that he is not 100% certain can give a description on the make and type but will have to guess on particulars such as voltage/ watts. This description were also already reported on the list provided to both the Police as well as the insurance. Mr Helena insisted as he motivated that he needed the information in order to obtain quotes for the replacements of the stolen items. My husband offered to provide him with the slips for the power tools he already had to buy to replace the stolen ones, as the insurance took so long to contact us, but Mr Helena would not accept that. Mr Helena informed us that he had a problem with our claim and that he wants to give us a chance to rectify it. He indicated that the voltage/ watts and description of the stolen drills that we reported on 30 June 2019, were different from the stolen drills that we reported on 6 February 2020. He motivated that my husband indicated to the insurance, on their request whether he owned any other drills accept from the ones that were stolen, that my husband responded by saying yes, but it is not in working order as it was very old. My husband said by way of speech when someone refers to a really old machine, that the drill was still working with oil. When Mr Helena interrogated my husband and he again asked if there were any other drills that was not stolen and my husband referred again to the old drill that was not in working order. Mr Helena asked us whether it was the oil drill on which my husband and myself both agreed that we are sure such a drill that is powered by oil does not exist. Mr Helena referred to the claim of 30 June and said we are contradicting ourselves. It was clear that he had an hidden agenda and did his research quite well, which was most probably also the reason why he took so long to meet with us to discuss the claim. Bearing in mind that the drills stolen on 30 June were found back and the claim was rejected because of the garage that was not locked, Mr Helena still insisted that we were claiming twice for the same drills, and he recommended that I write a different statement, I refused and told him I am not going to make changes to my statement. He also said that he can understand if I as a woman do not know the watts/ voltage of my husband's drills, but surely my husband should as he worked with it. I told him that I work every day with my microwave, kettle and other electric equipment and I can guarantee him that I surely don't know their watt/ voltage. He can present the claim as it is and King Price who can either reject or approve it. On 24 February 2020 I called the insurance as I did not hear from Mr Helena again. I was told that my claim was rejected and my insurance canceled, because "I provided incomplete and false information and that i cheated". I decided that I will except the outcome as I was anyway much upset with King Price and would have canceled my insurance with them anyway. But I was not aware that because King Price canceled my insurance, I will not be able to take out insurance with any company ever again. If I was aware of the implications, I surely would have made use of all remedies available to me to challenge and dispute the outcome of my claim at King Price, as I knew Mr Helena deliberately interrogated me and my husband in such a way that we've been unknowingly and innocently misled in such a way that we were forced to provide information that he used against us to have the claim rejected. My property is still under mortgage with FNB, according to law, I have to have building insurance, further more, I have to have content and car insurance in this time and current state we are living in. I never had any insurance claims rejected from any other insurance company before, and my credibility is now compromised because of the way I was treated by King Price. I honestly feel that I was not treated fairly and just by King Price, especially Mr Mick Helena. I don't want my insurance with King Price to be reinstated, what I need is my credibility to be reinstated in such a way that I am able to take out short term insurance again from another company. I therefor reported the incident to the ombudsman for short term insurance for investigation.
Yash Ramsuran as well as Anriette Viljoen assisted me today at King Price to update my policy information. They have been very professional, helpful, effective and efficient and served me with a friendly attitude. Thank you.
