Safari is a beautiful hidden gem in Pretoria, the waterfalls, the walkways, the plants, the restaurants. I've always loved going there, but since moving to Benoni I hadn't been there in years and I decided to take my son for a little outing to what I knew was a beautiful place. We made the mistake of going to the animal section... I cannot begin to explain my disgust and shock at the state of their enclosures. The cages are extremely small, the chickens have no grass or greenery to walk on. The *** is alone in it's tiny enclosure, just laying there because it has no life worth living. The little Marmosette ****** is alone in it's cage. There are way too many goats in their tiny enclosure, not to mention the amount of rodents probably eating more of the animals food than they are. The state of these animals and their enclosures is surely a wellfare hazard! I am reading reviews of over 6 years ago with the same complaints. Safari is a gold mine, how in the world are they not funding better enclosures for these animals? Or better yet, just shut down the zoo. Animals need to be in the wild or in the rehabilitation centers in case of rescues, not like this. I am horrified by this, it is traumatizing at the very least. I'm so concerned by the wellbeing of these animals. I will do everything in my power to get every animal wellfare organization involved until this is taken care of. Shame on you Safari!

The nursery and animals create a serene ambience. However the restaurants service is appalling. The waiters are never present to attention to your order. The owner accused me of not paying my bill and having multiple tabs open. This was not the case as I had clarified with the waiters. The owner was obstreperous and arrogant and did not admit to her mistake or apologise. Nice nursery but terrible restaurant. Change of ownership is in line as customer relations are poor. I would not recommend going to the restaurant as a fish rots from the head. And I feel the owner is running many customers away. I would like feedback as soon as possible

Please think twice before you decide to eat out at Safari Nursery in Pretoria East. Friday 4 December 2020 me and my colleagues from work had our Christmas get together at Safari nursery. We budgeted according to their menu published on their website which were reasonable and affordable. When we got there, we saw that the prices on their menu were triple what it was advertised for. The manager informed us that the menu on their website has the prices of the year 2012 and they are not able to update or remove it. I told him that by law you have to charge the prices for which you advertised a product. The manager said he is aware of that and apologized and offered us 20% discount. After we ate, and wanted to pay, he informed us that the owner overruled him and we will have to pay the full current prizes. I told him that we are left no choice to pay, but we are surely taking it further as we are not satisfied with their decision. We are taking the matter to the consumer board. We were deliberately misled by false advertising and again by the manager and owner of Safari Nursery.
