There was a review that was posted here early this month, I tried to look at it but I guess it was removed. This review was written by Hippos (BM) Davlin Naidoo then he added my name so that it looks as if I'm the one who wrote the review. The said (BM) Davlin Naidoo went out of his way to make sure that I am dismissed from Hippo. When asked about what kind of evidence he has that I'm the one who wrote the review was just my name and cell phone number of which he has access to. There are 3 individuals that I would like to talk about. Dean (GM) general manager Davlin (BM) business manager Cleo (HR) These 3 individuals did not rest until I was dismissed being taken from 1 hearing to another (6 hearings in a space of 4 months?) without any luck on their side to the point that they ended up writing a negative review using my credentials, so I was dismissed yesterday. The manner of which I was dismissed raised a flag because I was called on Microsoft teams and told that I was dismissed then they hung up on me while I was about to ask a question.. This is a case of unfair dismissal and it shows the incompetence of hippos HR Cleo and the BM Davlin. Dean the (GM) on the other hand is a dictator who gives Davlin orders to get rid of someone who they feel is a threat based on questioning their management style. Dean once told me 2 weeks ago that "do you know who I am? " Then 2 weeks later I'm being dismissed. I spoke to the Hippo CEO Bradley sometime last year, I sent him a mail asking to have a discussion with him because I was being victimized for exposing fraud that was done by 1 of the Hippo consultants. Instead of having a one on one with him, he decided to include the same individual who was protecting the perpetrator. I complained about commission fraud that was done by an Indian consultant but the response I got. From Davlin Naidoo was that "if it works for him then it's OK" but should I Jabulani do the same thing I will be slapped with a warning. Hippo has 2 call centre's one is in Johannesburg and one in Durban. From senior management to team managers it's only Indians and then 3 black team managers out of 9 managers at Hippo. Black consultants at Hippo are having a hard time, they are being exploited and taken for a ride, they will work endless hours without even getting paid overtime instead they will get time for time, I fought about this time for time thing, I even asked the BM Davlin and HR Cleo to explain to me what they understand about time for time, to my surprise non of them really knows what time for time is and how it is implemented. Hippo has got a HR by the name of Cleo Koopman who doesn't know the roles of HR, She is friends with the Hippo management and she normally has lunch with them. So now it makes it difficult for her to do her duties in the right way because her judgment must always be in favor of her friends. She is being used by Dean a d Davlin to fight their personal battles.. This review is just for me to introduce myself as I haven't gone deep into details of what is really happening behind Hippo walls, On Monday I will be writing a review to take you inside the Hippo business and how it is run.. I'm sure the Hippo external partners will be shocked to read my reviews which will be done from Monday onwards
It is very sad that me being an employee of Hippo.co.za I have to write a negative review on the company that I work for. I'm the most vocal consultant of Hippo and everyone knows about it. I decided to write this review because I feel like I've got nothing to loose as I am currently on suspension for the 3rd time within a space of 6 months for voicing my concerns internally within the business and exposing the incompetence and the management style of Hippo be it with their employees and their customers. 1, USING THE HIPPO WEBSITE: The minutes you put in your information on the website we call. (cold calling) :this means we calling someone who never asked to be called. I raised the issue of calling clients who just went to the website just to get a quote because they don't want to spend a lot of time in a call. THE RESPONSE FROM SENIOR MANAGEMENT I must stop questioning the business. 2 OVER WORKED AND PAID LESS There was a time were Hippo paid it's consultants a basic salary of R3500pm and we are told that medical aid is compulsory so you end up with a salary of R1500 or less depending on what kind of scheme you are using. When this was raised with management this was MANAGEMENTS RESPONSE the reason you paid this amount it's because you didn't negotiate when you were interviewed, Mind you, the are consultants that came for an interview and they were told that the salary that they are requesting of R7500 is too much so they won't get to be employed by Hippo. I also did my research with the medical aid prover that I'm using only to find out that Hippo works as a broker for these medical schemes so we are being forced to take medical aid with the little salary we earn and the company doesn't even subsidies us, so in a nut shell Hippo is also getting paid the medical aids that we are forced to take. HOW CONSULTANTS EARN THEIR COMMISSIONS. According to my research and findings based on the commission structure is that we are paid based on factors that are way beyond our control. 1, EFFECTIVENESS This means should a client go on to the Hippo website (never asked to be called) should the call go on voicemail or it is not answered it affects the consultant negatively when it comes to earning commissions, hence the poor clients get numerous calls from consultants trying to get a hold of them.. Mind you, we can even call clients who went on the website 3 or 4 months ago. This is were the client get irritated by Hippo and they come to hello Peter to write their reviews of being harrased by Hippo consultants 2 CLOSING (sales) As we are Hippo consultants our job is to service clients in giving them factual information on the companies that quote on the Hippo platform and transfer them to the brand of their choice, However we need to make sure that the client I transfered to any of those brands needs to be sold, if not it's going to affect you negatively on your commission earning. So in a nut shell Hippo consultant are not harrasing clients, it's just the manner of which these contacts that we get from the website are managed by senior management. The response from management when I address this is " STOP QUESTIONING THE BUSINESS, NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE". Hippo used to have just over 100 consultants now are between 60 - 70 this is JHB and Dbn branch. They all have issues and concerns but they are afraid to voice them out because they are afraid to end up in the situation that I am in right now. (suspension) This is how and why I was suspended without even my line manager knowing that I was suspended. On the 19th of January 2021 I called the BM(Business Manager) Davlin on Microsoft teams to raise some concerns as usual, the response was, I'm the one who called him so I can't tell him what to do. We ended the call then I text him on teams stating that he is doing the same mistake that was done back in 2012, 2013 that got Hippo fined Millions. That information and evidence is not on this review as I intend to forward it to the relevant institution. On the 20th of January 2021 at around 15h00 I received a call from the BM Davlin and HR Cleo. To my surprise the call was to issue me with a suspension letter, THE OFFENCE UNRULY BEHAVIOR I was suspended on the 20th of January 2021 for an "offense" I made on the 7th of December 2020. THIS IS WHAT I WAS SUSPENDED FOR. A fellow employee and a dear friend of mine who has been with Hippo since 2012 unfortunately passed on, May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace. When she passed on it was on a Friday morning, Hippo management never notified us as consultants and as friends of the" Nana" that's what we nomaly called her. Then on Saturday one of the managers decided to notify the floor about her passing through and Email. I only saw the email on Monday morning which is the date that is on my suspension form for the offence that I did. On that email it spoke about Nana's passing with only 1 line, below it was a paragraph of the incentive that they were running on Saturday. We had a moment of silence on that Monday I was very emotional as I knew her and we were close friends since we joined Hippo back in 2012.. We were asked if anyone had something to say, I jump in and I asked how can they be so insensitive by communicating an employees passing and then include an incentive on the same email.. This was on the 7th of December 2020. To my surprise I was suspended on the 20th of January 2021 just because I was asking for dignity on behalf of a friend who is no more. This review is just to give you an idea of what's going on within the Hippo business and I know a lot of Hippo consultants are afraid to speak up because they are afraid to loose their jobs the same way as I'm about to loose mine. I urge that Hippo consultant should also write their reviews and how they feel about the treatment, the threats and the victimization they are going through.. And just be anonymous.. Like I said this is my 3rd suspension in a space of 6 months and when I go to the hearings I always return to work as the suspension are always invalid.
i applied for a loan of which i didnt continue , however i got debited today for an amount of R395 and i never gave them permission to do as they please on my account, mind you, its not even my salary paydate today.
I was hospitalized last year October 2019. And diagnosed with a chronic disease. After my stay in hospital I called Momentum to change the plan to chronic and they said it will take me 2 days. It's now the 4th Feb 2020 still no changes and now I have to buy medication from my own pocket of which I'm paying a lot of money for my medical aid..
