On the third (03) of March the directors came to school to announce that the company was closing the high school due to financial challenges. On the 10 th of March high school learners 9GRADE 8-11 were given letters to officially inform them that the high school was shutting down on the 20 th of March .On the 12 th of Mrch they came back to school together with the labour attorney to inform high school teachers the reason why the school was closing down and asked us to give them alternatives to closing the school. On the same date 12 Mrch 2020 i gave the principal a hard copy of alternatives to closing the schoool and i also sent the directors an email regarding the alternatives to closing the school. i also requested a proof of audited financial statements to prove that the school was having financial problems, However i was never given feedback regarding my alternatives to closing the school that i gave them, My alternatives to closing the school were just silently rejected. The management refused to give me audited financial stateements to prove that the school was having financial problems. OIn the 20 th of March the company closed the high school. we also had a meeting with their labour attorney on which i was just told by word of mouth that i was going to be given R 20 000 at the end of march and R 17 000 at the end of April. The directors even failed to honour that little promise, instead at the end of March i was given R 7 700 and at the end of April i was given R 7 500 which was even less than my monthly salary. I was issued with a letter of dismissal on the 17 th of April. My contract stated that if they decide to terminate my contract they would give me 3 month notice. To my knowledge and understanding the school closed because they did not have an examination centre for grade 12 learners to write their exams. the school had failed to register with Umalusi for Examination centre so that their grade 11 learners who were going to grade 12 would be able to write their matric. They did not want to expose themselves that PLG Schools were operating high schools without examination centre. They were left with no choice but to close the high school. I have requested them to assist me with UIF form but they could not . yours sincerely Maxwell Kadyaridzire
