Entered a competition an online. Got a message that we won a Smeg kettle. Paid the R 60.00 fee to songsrsuper.com. No OTP was asked for. Usually, after you enter your card details you have to submit for payment and then the the site will request for the OTP before the transaction is completed. According to ABSA bank because we gave our banking details on the website and accepted the request to make the payment and that this group are not registered on the VISA banking authentication system, an OPT will not be sent from ABSA to verify the transaction. In this case it did not. Shortly thereafter a completely different website called RollMoon.com deducted another ZAR 60.00 from the same account without us visiting their website or making a transaction. Once again, no OTP was requested. WHY DO THE BANKS DEMAND THAT WE ONLY COMPLETE INTERNET TRANSACTIONS USING AN OTP TO PROTECT OURSELVES AND THEN DO NOT ON INFORM US THAT THERE ARE WEBSITES OUT THERE NOT REGISTERED ON THE VISA AUTHENTICATION SYSTEM WHICH DO NOT REQUIRE OPT'S TO TAKE YOUR MONEY. YOU OBEY AND YOU ARE VIOLATED BY THE BANKING INSTITUTIONS, YOU DISOBEY AND THE SAME THING HAPPENS! Thank you to all those ********s out there, including the banking system, that prey on us gullible working class *****s. I am sure that several people have contacted their banking institutions regarding these *****sters, why have the banks, with all of the tech that we have today, not made a system to record and identify these websites so that they can warn their customers prior to them losing their hard earned income.
I am a small business owner. I pay cash for the goods that I purchase and I request that my customers pay me before their goods are dispatched. I received an order to the value of R 27,000.00. My client sent me a proof of payment from Nedbank on the 6th of November 2020 at 10:18. Nothing had appeared in our account by 11:00 on Monday the 9th of November 2020. I called Nedbank on their 0860 number to inquire if they could assist me with verifying if the reference on the POP was valid or not. I wanted to ascertain if this was a fraudulent transaction or not. The lady who answered my call informed me that she could not help me and that I should either get my client to contact Nedbank to confirm if the POP is valid (?) or I should go to a branch. Nedbank, I am sure, like most other banks will not refund you if you have sent goods to a third party based on the receipt of a bogus POP, it is your problem. But, to call in and to be told that they cannot assist you is really not cool. But hey, there is a pandemic going around, please go to one of our understaffed branches, and they will hopefully be able to assist you. With all of the fraud that has become prolific in 2020, the banks are not accepting responsibility, which in some cases I can understand, but not when you ask for a transaction to be verified. Nedbank why are you assisting criminals?
