I had the most shocking experience at Melkbos Hardware. On Saturday 31 October I went to buy 20 liters of Dulux paint. Duncan the owner, in front of me, told the assistant that there is no time on a Saturday to mix colors. I was there early, there were no other clients in the shop except for a man who came in after me and was waiting to have a 1 liter mixed. An excellent and very experienced painter applied the paint on a nice sunny hot day. He finished at around 12. The next morning the paint had streaked all over the walls. When I took it back on Saturday 7 November, Duncan threw me out of his shop and called the police, for no good reason other than that he was in a terrible mood. I still have the paint with no apologies and he has not even bothered to look at the photos I took along to show him how the paint had behaved. I have spent around R 500,000 in his shop when I did a rebuild of my house. It seems as if Duncan does not like having women in his shop.
