On the 8/1/2023 I was enroute from Dbn to Jhb with my elderly 86 yr old father in his wheelchair. We were on our way to Australia to visit my sister and children since they emigrated in December 2019 and due to lockdown we hadn’t seen them in 3 yrs. I arrived at the check in counter only to be told that my dad can get onto the flight but not myself as the flight was overbooked??? So I had to wait until all the other passengers checked in and IF they had space then I could go on??? I was livid 😡😡The booking was made on December 1 st 2022 and fully paid for and we had checked in online the day before so what does this mean??? How can Flysafair take our payments, issue tickets well over a month before departure and say they are overbooked???? I told the lady I am not letting my elderly father get on alone as I am his caregiver and he gets confused. She basically says she doesn’t know anything about the booking blah blah and just works there???? She made me wait with my dad while over 40 ppl checked in??? No one came to assist. I went to the “manager “ who was just as inefficient and gave the same response, we had to wait at the gates and IF there is availability we could get on or just my dad but I must be on a later flight? What was my father supposed to do in jhb while waiting for me to arrive? He has dementia and needs constant assistance which they could clearly see but never bothered. I emailed them and received a pathetic response which offered no explanation.
Terrible, just out to rob ppl. A ridiculous twenty percent cancellation fee when the reason was COVID. All other agencies and flights give you a full refund but not them. Rogues. So many other professional agencies out there, don’t waste your time or money
