If you claim to regulate and uplift the standards in the plumbing industry under the premise that you are authorized by SAQA but can't do anything about the fly by night 'bakkie' plumbers, as you can only take action against your own registered members which by the way has to be qualified plumbers, then surely you are regulating the wrong people. There are so many questions regarding irregularities but to name a few: If you want to uplift an industry you don't only select the areas you want to regulate that has the most traffic ie. hot water generation (geysers, heat pumps and solar) ensuring your certificate of compliance has to be bought in mass, you surely regulate all areas of plumbing like sewerage, storm water drainage, venting, installations of water supplies, waste pipes etc. How come other trades' certificates of compliance ie. elctricity, gas, roofing etc. cost a tenth of a PIRB coc, I mean R190 per certificate compared to R12, doesn't make sense. SAQA suggests a continuous development program (cpd points) which they suggest a minimum of 5 points but PIRB sets a minimum of 25 points per annum but you only get 0.5 points per webinar you attend, if you have done manufacturers cources for solar of heat pumps, they don't recognize them till you complete it through their training company at a couple thousand Rand ofcourse. As in most cases where dealings feel off you can simply follow the money, as a NPO their financials must surely be made public knowledge to see where what has gone. They simply keep lying and trying every tactic to delay the inevitable, they have been raking in millions under false claims and must be reprimanded.
