http://novastoretech.co.za/ I made an online purchase, tried to contact these guys via their website form, email and both social media profiles to follow up. I have received ZERO response. I came to check out HelloPeter for novatech and there are 4 x 1 star reviews giving nova a 0 Trust Score. I immediately reversed my transaction. I was stupid for not checking HelloPeter before making the purchase. Stay Away!
Date of Service: 10th April 2024 Location: Car Care Clinic, Camaro Crossing, Johannesburg South I took my car to the Car Care Clinic to replace the rear spring kit on the passenger side because the handbrake was not catching. Upon assessment, it was determined that the brake shoes also needed to be re-bonded. Despite the high quote of R5500, I trusted Car Care Clinic to do the job correctly. The job took one day longer than expected. When I collected the car, I was assured that the brakes had been checked and everything was in order, with a six-month warranty provided. I rarely drive as I work permanently from home, but on the 24th April, I took a highway drive from Camaro to the Reading Interchange towards Steeledale. Approaching the offramp, I noticed an aggressive vibration from the back passenger wheel. Suddenly, the rear wheel locked up, forcing me to make an emergency stop. Fortunately, I had slowed down to about 30 km/h when the wheel locked. Upon inspection, I found that the wheel bolts had come loose, with only one bolt left holding the wheel. The wheel bolts had not been tightened to the correct torque specification by the mechanics and had come loose. The wheel rotated off the hub, jamming into the wheel arch lining and the side skirt. I couldn't remove the wheel as it was mechanically jammed. I called Car Care Clinic and explained the situation. They arranged a tow truck, but it took three hours for the flatbed to arrive, even though I had specifically stated that the car needed a lift truck. Another hour passed before the appropriate truck arrived to tow my car back to Car Care Clinic. After dropping the car off, I took an Uber home and spent the next six days trying to get feedback from Car Care Clinic about the repairs. Despite promises of updates, communication was poor. It took six days for them to remove the rear hub assembly and drill out the jammed bolt. When I finally picked up the car, I was assured everything was fine and that there was no additional damage and everything was up to their standards. They promised to replace the 5mm wheel spacer which was also shattered in the incident, within a few days, which ended up being 2 weeks. About a week later, I discovered that the handbrake was still not working on the rear passenger side. I jacked up the car and found the rear passenger wheel still rotated with the handbrake engaged. I contacted Car Care Clinic immediately and was told to bring the car in. Later, I received a voice note stating that the handbrake cable on the rear passenger side was snapped and had been for a long time due to corrosion. I felt that Car Care Clinic was trying to avoid responsibility for the snapped cable. My frustration was compounded by the fact that they had supposedly checked everything multiple times and assured me all was in order. It was simple for me to jack up the car and see that the handbrake was not functioning. After this, I took my car to Magnificent Wheel Repairs, where it was confirmed that the wheel was buckled after being told by Car Care Clinic it was not buckled. I had it repaired for R950. I then went to SHOCK & Wheel Alignment Center in Selby, where they found that the hub axle and shock mounts were damaged from the incident. The car is now booked in for these repairs at SHOCK & Alignment Centre. Additionally, there are other damages including inner wheel linings, side skirt plastic clips, and the wheel arch. Beyond the physical damages, this incident has caused significant stress, extra expenses for Uber rides, and considerable inconvenience. Conversations with friends and colleagues revealed that others have also had issues with Car Care Clinic at Camaro Crossing. I want to share my story to warn others to be cautious and personally check the work done on their vehicles, even though this should be the mechanic’s responsibility. In short, I do not recommend using Car Care Clinic at Camaro Crossing. I will never go back and certainly won't recommend them to anyone I know.
