My brother-in law passed away 3 months ago on 6 September 2021. He wisely decided to take out accidental life cover at FNB. (He should have chosen not a bank but an insurance company) His wife has been trying to claim on that policy with absolute zero success. The ONLY way to speak to a person it through their call centre with an average waiting time of 40 minutes (my last call was 59 minutes and nobody picked up) The 3 times she did manage to speak to someone, they advised her the policy lapsed in October (a month AFTER his death), which of course is logical since the man DIED. After explaining that to the person, they put you through to netherworld where nobody EVER answers. We have now decided to obtain the services of a lawyer to sue FNB to get them to respond. This has awaken me to the fact why you should NEVER buy a life policy from a BANK, or bank services from an insurer, because their core business takes precedence, and they simply don't care if you fall through the cracks. If ANYONE has an FNB life cover policy, be very very aware that your loved ones will NOT HAVE AN EASY TIME trying to claim against that policy. CANCEL your life policy at you bank and speak to a real broker!
