We had a minor bumper crash at a traffic circle and Compass Towing were on the scene in a flash. We picked up the in-tact fog light and broken headlights from the road and put them in our car for safety but forgot to lock the car. Whilst taking photo's of the offending vehicle, we saw W*****, a short assistant to the unfriendly tow truck driver, go into our unlocked car. We dashed back to the car as he got out but he ran back to the tow truck, returning to tell us that there was something wrong with the front wheel; his reason for being inside our car. After filling in a report at the police station, we drove home. Only then, we noticed that the lights and the fittings we had picked up earlier in the road and put in the car for safety, were missing. It then became clear why W***** had been inside our car. Nothing wrong with the wheel! He 'took' the lights and must have hid them in his overalls and put them in the tow truck. After months of searching, when we wanted to have another fog light fitted, his reason for helping himself to our lights became clear. This fog light replacement cannot be sourced anywhere. We are still looking... Compass Towing must have known this was a rare find, making it a very valuable fog light. If Compass Tokai/Retreat/Southern Suburbs, Cape Town, ever stop to "help", don't leave your car unlocked as they must not be trusted. Tell them to leave you alone!
