To be fair, there are some real positives at Tune Tech. The staff especially the lady at reception are knowledgeable, professional, and easy to deal with. Their communication is excellent, and the claim process with my third-party insurers was genuinely hassle-free. Unfortunately, the overall experience ended badly. I took my car in for a service. The next day after collecting it, my car had to be towed back to Tune Tech due to a major coolant leak, this is a problem that didn't exist prior to taking it for a service. I was told the main coolant pipe was old and needed replacement. I would have preferred this being picked up during the service, but I accepted that issues can happen and I paid for the repair. Just over a month later, I received a “refill coolant” notification again. I contacted Tune Tech calmly, explained the full history, and asked if I could bring the car in hoping they would take into account the money spent and the complications already experienced. Their response was that there are many other coolant pipes and that I should take it to BMW, as they are not willing (or not able) to assist further. My issue is simple: there was no attempt to inspect, diagnose, or provide evidence that this new problem isn’t related to the previous repair which should reasonably carry some workmanship warranty. If they do know it’s unrelated, then it suggests they may have been aware of other issues in the cooling system and didn’t communicate that to me at the time. Either way, refusing to help when a repeat issue appears shortly after a repair is unacceptable. This is part and parcel of doing business, and the customer shouldn’t be left stranded. Tune Tech has the people and the professionalism to be a standout workshop, but this experience left a bitter taste and I can’t recommend them based on the lack of accountability and aftercare.
At the end of October last year I sold my vehicle, and used the mix telematics website to inform them of the cancellation of subscription. As it so happened with the purchase of my new vehicle I also moved bank accounts so the account that they were debiting was closed which didn’t really matter because I cancelled it. A few days ago I was getting calls from debt collectors to collect on my “unpayed” bills for the last close to a year. As mix telematics was trying yo debit a closed account for months on end and just adding it to a running total, even after the cancellation was requested. This kind of business practice is predatory and is not done in good faith. Once I got the call from the debt collectors I sent another notification to close the account. Since then I have spent countless hours on their call center going from pillar to post waiting all my airtime trying to find resolution speaking to poorly trained call center agents that are ill equipped to assist me. I have never had such a hellish experience with a company before, it feels like a never ending nightmare, they have also affected my credit worthyness as I am unable to open up an MTN account even though experian says my credit report is excellent. I have been a client of theirs since 2014 and find this treatment and predatory practices unbelievable.
Last year November I contracted with ABSA to get Vehicle Finance. In January I requested for my vehicle finance debit order to be moved to Investec. Every month I get threatened my their call center for not paying, every month I have made special EFT arrangements and every month I am told to mail someone else about moving my debit order and I haven’t had any responses to any of my emails or requests ABSA is a completely inept organization and unable to conduct rudimentary administration procedures leaving your credit record affect due to their gross negligence at managing their administration and loan management and arrears.
