The speed of service and assistance was great. Nonhlanhla helped me a lot and even told me about better covers.
The guy is unreliable. On 8th August 2024 I received a quote from them with a promise that if I paid a 70% deposit, they would deliver and install the aluminum windows and door within 3 days. I accepted the quote, made the deposit and sent him the measurements. He also called to say that he will come to take the measurements himself to confirm before manufacturing. He never came to take the measurements, first citing car problems as the reason for the delay, and then later ignoring our calls altogether. After 8 days, he still hasn't come to us, doesn't take our calls, doesn't respond to our messages, it's just pure silence. Through the messages we've sent him, we have asked that he refunds us as he failed to deliver. Our project is now at a standstill, as builders are waiting to proceed but cannot without those things. He doesn't say anything, doesn't respond to us, and from where we are standing, HE ****MED US AND RAN AWAY WITH OUR MONEY! Very appalling!!! DO NOT BE ANOTHER VICTIM, STAY AWAY FROM THIS BOGUS BUSINESS!!!
They supplied and installed a D5 Centurion Gate motor at my house on 23 July 2022. While doing the installation, the guy mentioned that my gate track is not level and he'll need to come back and do it at additional cost, and I agreed. The motor stopped working a little over a month after the installation and when I called him he promised to come and fix it countless times but never came. As we speak, I have a gate motor that's not working and I've given up on them.
I lodged a complaint against bookabook.co.za after being referred by Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO), and immediately I got an e-mail from Refilwe Papo which reads: "Kindly note your complaint against BOOK A BOOK has been assessed. However, we are unable to proceed with the registration of the complaint due to the outstanding CGSO ruling or closing letter. Please note that this complaint is closed on our side. Should you wish to proceed lodging this complaint, please resend the complaint to complaints@thencc.org.za and attach any supporting documents, including the closing letter from CGSO." I resent the complaint and got the same message. I asked what's good about the letter from CGSO and got no response. Either this Refilwe Papo or the Commission works with these scammers. No justice for consumers in South Africa.
I bought books from these scammers on 20 February 2022. They never updated me on the delivery of the items bought unless I asked, which I did 20 million times only to get empty promises weeks after my queries. Today, 4 May 2022, I'm yet to receive the books and they don't respond to my requests for refunds. Their contact number is ringing somewhere in Iraq with no one to answer. People, run away from these scammers!
