My son and I went for lunch on Wednesday at Gibson's Gourmet Burgers & Ribs. Gibsons is his favorite restaurant and has been for the past 11+ years. I treat him every year on his birthday to have his favorite Long Island burger. This has been the first time we visited the restaurant since 2020 lockdown and we were both very disappointed. The size of the burgers have shrunk to that of a junior burger, bearing in mind that the price you pay is still that of a Rolls Royce Burger. Even though we had voiced our disappointment to the manager on duty, the more I think of it the more disappointed I am at Gibsons. (The manager on duty assured us that the size of the burgers are still the same, but it's definitely not!) Being our favorite restaurant, we want to support them and we truly want their business to flourish, but after what we experienced yesterday... I'm not sure if I'll be back or refer anyone to Gibsons again. Paying R500 for a meal, I really expect value for money. We are locals and not international tourists. R500 is a half tank of fuel. So many years of such beautiful experiences and memories at Gibsons and now this?? Wednesday was a special occasion for my son and I as it was our last meal together before he immigrates to Dubai. What a disappointment. I searched my photo galery for a photo I took before lockdown of a Long Island burger my son had. The size of the Long Island burger then and what he had yesterday one cannot even compare. The menus and photos on their website and social media are deceiving as it portrays the big burgers they used to serve at Gibsons. Our Rolls Royce Long Island burger is now the size of a regular Spur burger. This is truly disappointing. My day was spoilt as all I wanted to do was to treat my son for his last meal at his favorite restaurant eating his favorite burger. What an epic fail! Not a good experience or memory of what was supposed to be a special occasion. I can't stand it when businesses do this to consumers, keep the prices the same, but decreasing the size of their product. So deceitful. I sent them a message on Messanger and via email, but have not received a response. I guess they know that they have decrease the size of their burgers and can't argue my point. I guess they rely on the international tourists to visit their restaurant as an once off. Gibson's doesn't really care about the local market.
