I purchased a fridge freezer and paid a premium for its online connectivity and cameras that are WIFI compatible only. Siemens Website states that through their app Home Connect, the system can be set up in South Africa. I live in an area that does not have cable; but I do have a good LTE signal and I can watch Netflix etc easily enough. Despite many attempts, I have failed to connect it to the Net. The engineer that Siemens dispatched also failed , and although the Company has software that their IT Department can use remotely to check for issues such as this, despite my request, have failed to do so. I suspect that their products are not compatible with some servers in South Africa, that they know this and that their adverti*****t, that I mention above, is therefore misleading. I think that would be purchasers in South Africa should be made aware of this before they spend money on something that cannot be used!
I purchased a product on line that their adverti*****t claimed was ‘in stock’.I paid by bank transfer as Manicaa.com did not take credit cards- MISTAKE! They then informed me that’ the stock was in their warehouse in the USA’ and later that they had ‘no stock’. This seems bizarre as they are, at the time of writing, still advertising it as being in stock. They agreed to refund me within 2 weeks, and when this failed to happen, agreed to escalate my claim. When, after a month, nothing had happened I informed them of the review that I would write,- this review. As they failed to respond to even this, I can only conclude that their failure to respond to any of this had nothing to do with poor communication. The moral of this is that using a credit card on line gives a consumer protection. Not using one benefits an unscrupulous vendor, who saves by not having to pay credit card commission; but can also pick and chose whether he refunds the customers that he lets down
