I bought a Thule roof rack and roof carrier system from Thule Fourways about 5 years ago. I paid approx. R14 000 (expensive when compared to other products). I was told that I was buying a quality system and that the premium price ensured that I could adapt and build the system as my needs grew or changed in the future. I bought it for those reasons - knowing that we change cars from time to time. Recently I wanted to move my roof rack to our new car and asked about buying the "feet" for the new car. (I would then transfer the rack/bars to the new car.) I was quoted R1400 for the "feet", which I thought was fair and I accepted. Thereafter, Thule management changed their mind and I was then told that I couldn't do so I had to buy a feet adapter for about R4500 or a new system for R7400. One of the staff said that Thule now sold a kit per car since 2019. In other words it was no longer transferable from one car to the other. I was advised by management to sell my existing system online to recoup my loss. I felt strong armed and manipulated - and bought the new system very reluctantly because it fits the Thule roof carrier that I'd already invested in. I now have 2 roof racks - one I don't need at all - and I've spent about R21 000. Thule did not keep its promise of a flexible solution when I first bought the products. Very disappointed. I trusted Thule, in vain.
