Unfortunately you can't rate lower than 1 star. we have had an experience that can only be described as a nightmare. Moving from Gauteng to the Western Cape we did a lot of homework to find the correct moving company. We have seen a lot of good online reviews from a company called Smoof Move. We decided to get a quote along with various other moving companies. Dries the owner got back to us in no time and sent us a quote after we sent through an inventory list. After receiving the quote we requested that he do a house visit to make sure that we cover everything as we wanted to make sure they account for everything and there was some options that the inventory list did not make provision for. He came to do the site visit, my wife and I asked him if he shouldn't make any notes while seeing the furniture and items upon which he replied that he has been doing this for many years and doesn't need to make notes. After the site visit he phoned to 1. Confirm the quote he sent with some conditions 2. Confirmed that our load will need a big truck, link or pantec trailer, and he said it is too big for a 8 ton truck. We confirmed the quote by paying the required deposit and made final payment a few days before the planned moving date. On the day of the move the truck arrived and it was an 8 ton truck. Upon phoning Dries to enquire why he has sent an 8 ton truck he replied that we shouldn't worry, he will sort it out. They sent another 8 ton truck later the evening to collect the remainder of the goods. Upon phoning Dries the next morning he assured me that he will sort it out and get our load on the road. My family and I started our journey to Mosselbay, we did a sleepover in Colesberg. I received a voice note from Dries while we were in Colesberg that stated that our move was too big and that we have to pay in another R35 000.00 before he could let the truck leave, 70% extra and more that he quoted us. I could only reach him on his phone the next morning. He was very abrupt and not negotiable at all and maintained that either we pay in an extra R35 000 or he will offload our stuff on a pavement. We had absolutely no other choice other that give in to his RANSOM DEMAND. We were half way to the Cape and my family was traumatized by this experience. We paid the money and he sent the truck. After the truck arrived and offloaded our load I called him to voice my disgust towards the way he treated us as a client. He asked me for a few days to once again "sort it out" After a week I followed up and yet again he needed more time. A few follow ups later he sent a message that he is willing to refund R15 000 of the extra monies he charged. At this point we just wanted to get on with our lives and excepted his offer. Two weeks later he still didn't make any payments. I remembered seeing a different name on the side of the trucks that did our move. Dries's company is called Smoof Move, but the trucks had ERL branding on the sides. I called ERL and asked if the work for Dries, they replied that they assist him with loads. I then enquired to find out what size truck he booked with them for our move. The reply was an 8 ton truck. I told them about my situation upon which they replied and told me that it is not the first time Dries has done this, in fact he has done it numerous times. Every time he tells them (ERL) that his customer has under paid him and that he has to fit the bill out of his pocket. To the customer (us) he said his partners(ERL) are demanding the extra money. They then give him a considerable discount on his rate and he smiles all the way to the bank. I phoned Dries after not getting any updates from him on the R15 000 he undertook to pay upon which he replied that he will pay nothing and started to try and intimidate me. He is a SERIOUS CROOK with no conscious and serial offender. The good reviews that you find all over the internet about Smoof Move as grossly misplaced. The team and service from ERL logistics was excellent to be honest, and that is why Smoof Move looks great when you try to get reviews. The actual team and company providing the great service is not Smoof Move but ERL logistics. Contact them directly to save yourself some major headaches and disappointment. Upon further investigation Dries - Smoof Move owns no trucks and relies on ERL for their excellent service to uphold his good name. He has no business address to serve any legal documents. I invite all other customers that experienced the same to join me with a joint claim against this crook. To my knowledge he has robbed a few people in the same way, some are still suffering his deception as we speak.
I changed my address to a new address after moving and it was effortless. Great service
