Very stressful construction experience.
We signed with Steward Allardice Construction to complete our major renovations and new build (apartment). After the contract was signed and invoicing began, it became clear that work was being invoiced for that has not been completed, that daily rates were being adjusted (after signing a fixed-build contract) and that the construction was not being built to architect specifications. Unfortunately discussions/meetings could not overcome the challenges and the contract was ended.

Very dissapointing.
Initially the team at Calore were very helpful to get quotes sorted out. However, once payment was made, we encounted many problems. Most distressing is the smoke which floods our house from the indoor braai. We asked them to install an extractor fan, they said ok, and then walked it back and have no told us this is not possible. Major oversell on their parts

Avoid at all costs.
Dishonest from start to end. They will low ball their tender to get the job, alter the daily rates, "omit" items that suddenly come in at 100,000's over the fixed tender amount, change your design to maxi mise their profits (e.g. build with brick), yell and perform at weekly site meetings, and hit you with almost weekly lawyer letter's to intimidate you. Steer clear.
