My order was placed on a Saturday night. Almost instantly an email came through confirming my order had been received. The email also included their bank details. I did the EFT payment at 22:18 that night and received a confirmation email letting me know payment was received and my order is now being processed. The Monday morning, I was notified that my order has been picked up by the couriers and should arrive within 1-4 working days. They also provided me with a tracking number and link to track the order. My order was shipped with Fastway Couriers and the next day (Tuesday) I had received my parcel. I am very impressed with the fast service Super Scrubs provided me with. Not once did I have to follow up on the progress of my order - they updated me before I had to ask. The scrub set and lab coat that I ordered were very good quality (not cheap fabric). Would recommend them and definitely use them again – Excellent service!
I know it’s a bit late, but I wanted to share the experience I had with Platinum Life. I was a member of Platinum Life and had a Platinum Cancer Policy (Policy No. 1112297) for 5 years – since 01/05/2015. I also had my daughter and my partner on the policy. I was a loyal client of theirs and had not missed one single payment as I come from a family where cancer is quite common. As we are all aware, the period of the Covid-19 lockdown has negatively impacted many people. During lockdown, my salary was cut, and I was also facing possible retrenchment, therefor I have sent an email to Platinum Life to cancel my policy. The effective date of cancelling the policy was 05/05/2020. This decision was not taken lightly as I have been a loyal client of theirs for 5 years (paying R1,791.85 pm). When I asked them to cancel my policy, I also asked them if there is any chance that some of the premiums paid could be refunded to me (as the cancellation was not done by choice). Platinum Life came back to me and said the policy is a risk policy and if I choose to cancel the policy there would be no money paid out on the cancellation thereof. I feel this was highly unfair as I was forced to cancel my policy due to lockdown. We were in the middle of a pandemic which I had no control over, and it caused me to lose A LOT of money! The amounts I paid per year: (Estimates considering annual premium increases) May 2015 – May 2016 = R14,107.56 May 2016 – May 2017 = R15,675.12 May 2017 – May 2018 = R17,416.80 May 2018 – May 2019 = R19,351.92 May 2019 – May 2020 = R21,502.20 Estimate total amount paid for 5 years: R88,053.60 I think its disgusting that Platinum Life could not refund me even a portion of my premiums paid. They always claim to “care” about the wellbeing of their clients. Where was the humanity when Covid hit?
In 2007 my stepfather took out an in Old Mutual Max Income plan. He invested R602,522.06 so that he can receive an income payment of R4,772.62 for over the course of 10 years. The lump sum that was invested should’ve generated interest which should’ve allowed him to receive the regular monthly income. This money was re-invested every 10 years. My stepfather passed away on the 1st of July 2019. I have a bank statement showing that he still received the income payment of R4,772.62 on the 27th of June 2019 (evidence that this money was indeed re-invested). According to his life policy my mother was the heir. Because she has been living with me for the last 4 years, she has informed Old Mutual that she nominated me as the legal beneficiary. My stepfather also had a small policy with Old Mutual for R15,398.17 which was paid out to me on the 29th of August 2022. I have been following up with Old Mutual for the Max Income Plan policy, but I was informed that the policy was ceased due to the amount that was reinvested being paid out to the client over the years. This doesn’t make sense as it was reinvested every 10 years, meaning that this amount was again invested in 2017 and should’ve only finished in 2027. I have requested that they provide me with a detailed statement showing the date when the money was invested. The statement should also show how much he received every month (R4,772.62) and the remaining balance that was left of the R602,522.06 when he died in 2019. Because my stepdad has passed away, the remaining balance of the R602,522.06 must be paid out to the beneficiary – it simply cannot just “disappear”. I have requested feedback, but nothing yet. This makes a person wonder if your loved ones will be taken care of when you die and have invested in Old Mutual. I know of at lease eight people who will cancel their life insurance policies with Old Mutual if this issue is not resolved.
