This is my second review ever, and I had to. Company has no communication channels at all. Their phone is never answered, their form on their website doesn't work. When I eventually got through to Rebecca, who was a lot of help, she went on leave and it's back to crickets with this company. Full week and I've never gotten any update from them without having to go to all corners of earth to get a response. My problem is not delays or technical issues, those will always happen with all providers, the issue with this company is that they never get in touch for updates when these happen, when you as the customer take initiative and get in touch, they don't reply. If you have an alternative, please go with that alternative. You won't be happy here. I miss Openserve.
Old Mutual Insure is nothing but a ****. After posting on Hellopeter, they acted like my matters really being re-looked at, just for them regurgitate the same claim declinature they sent 7 months ago. I have asked them to explain why their witnesses say I was speeding, when my Tracker report says I was not, I have asked them why my Tracker report says I Harshly app**** breaks yet they claim I made no attempt at minimizing the effects of the accident. I asked them why their claims investigator Joe Masilela started interviews with witnesses by saying "Tell me about the car that caused the accident", already asserting what he was supposed to be investigating as fact. They still haven't addressed any of these questions. After going through my bank statements and finding out I don't drink, they started making up lies so that they don't pay. Go to another insurer if you have any intention f having your claim paid out, Old Mutual is a shell of its former self and policyholders should run from this insurer.
I had my car insurance claim declined by Old Mutual Insure on the basis of witnesses claiming I had been speeding, Old Mutual claimed I also made no attempt at minimising the effects of the accident. I was confused because I did not speed and I also did brake and swerved the car to minimise the effect of the accident. When I asked them for all their evidence and cell phone recordings, even the one's with me, they declined, saying it's their "property". If you are confident about your claims and are willing to go to court, then you would have no problem sharing the evidence, after all there is Discovery during a court case where sides have to provide evidence to each other anyway. This is very shady behavior by a giant like Old Mutual Insure. But this was only the beginning of the saga. I then requested my Tracker report from Tracker myself to find out what it said. To no one's surprise, it shows that I in fact was not speeding and I also harshly braked to minimise the effect of the accident. I was so surprised because for a person doing this for a living it should be very easy to just check the Tracker report and see that what the witnesses were claiming were lies, moreover, it shows I attempted to minimise the effects of the accident by breaking and swerving. It then took the Ombudsman for Short Term Insurance(OSTI) office to have them share the evidence. Just for the recordings to show that my assessor was leading the witnesses on, claiming I had "caused the accident", when beginning conversations. This had obviously been rehe****d. I was so stunned at the level of bias my assessor showed. If your assessor is Joe Masilela at Old Mutual Insure please be very careful, if it were me I would even ask to be re-assigned to another assessor. This is together with his manager, Delano Chame, who acted removed from the matter when I asked if all of this makes sense, he said he "doesn't know". It's a year later now and I'm still working through the matter, paying for a car I can't drive/ or fix, all because the assessor was either grossly *********** or is biased against me. It is true that as black people in this country we will always be underestimated, we will be discriminated against because we are seen as less than. They probably thought because I am young, and black, I don't have the means to fight a big insurer like them. Well, they have another thing coming!
