My dad had been in and out of hospital and as a result he had to be in and out of a care@midstream. That place is not a place one would take a loved one. There was a point where my dad was non verbal and bedridden and I would come in to find marks on his body that indicated he fell and and. This is a patient who needs two people to turn him regularly from side to side every two hrs, how would he have fallen? The staff especially the RN only known as Patience is very rude and disrespectful. I would want to read his BP charts and they said I couldn’t and I asked why and I could tell they were hiding things. One day I walked in and I saw a paramedic holding my dads bags in the lift and I asked why he’s holding it and he told me my dad was getting readmitted into hospital because they couldn’t find the port inserted on him at hospital, it was needed to do dialysis. It turns out they didn’t have the dialysis machine and so they waited until the next Tuesday to readmit because if they had done it sooner, medical aid would not have paid them…They were so embarrassed as I walked in when they were wheeling him on to the ambulance, they didn’t even bother calling me to let me know. How it works is that every Monday they request funds from medical aid so that they can continue “helping” the patient, medical aid pays them on a weekly basis so essentially they can hold the patient there for as long or short a while as possible. If your loved one is discharged sooner and you see no progress then it means that medical aid refused a request for further treatment via physio and that’s where they- Midstream make the majority of the money. If you questions they make remarks like “ if you’re not satisfied you can take him home” meanwhile the patient is on life support and you need them “taken care of” by them. Unfortunately my dad passed and I wished he was well enough to tell me what went on in that facility. All of those ladies roaming around in uniform are just ordinary people who said “I can look after sick people without qualifications” none are qualified except the 2 or 3 RN nurses available. I questioned the RN Patience, this very loud lady about why my dad’s BP was so low and she chewed my head off. Be careful guys, those people are ****s in a nice building. God save those patience and their families
